I'm happy with my RME Fireface 800 as an ADC/DAC and interface with OSX/Pro Tools. 8 analog i/o plus i think 10 more digital (ADAT plus SPDIF)

Although if you don't need the interface, you might be able to get more bang for the buck with just an ADC.

Nice, thanks for the link! That was fun; even just hearing the stems out of the main mix and reading those short descriptions was a good experience. I've been interested in that album's arrangements since it came out. I downloaded stems for the whole album although I only had a go at two of them. An...

Got the mic. It sounds fantastic on my upright bass! Can't wait to try it on other sources.

Thanks for packing it so well!

Up for sale is a Dean Edge fretless 5 string bass, in gig bag. Nice translucent red finish. 400 obo

2x15 Fender Bassman speaker cabinet 300 obo

Both are in central NJ but I could also bring the bass to NYC if someone there is interested.

I remember hearing that the telephone lines had a very limited frequency range... so even if you were to wire up a telephone headset, you'd still need to EQ the crap out of it. But, having the singer hold and sing into an actual telephone headset (maybe even in front of a "real" mic too, just in cas...

Thanks for this!
I was recently feeling very down on new music in general, at least what I've been exposed to; so it's great to get a few points in the right directions!

I ended up going with the Fireface 800 since I've read so many positive things about RME and right now using a 800>400 cable since my hard drive is just 400. No track-intensive tests yet, but I must say the initial set up and recording 2 tracks to PT was pretty quick and easy, updating the firmware ...

The other option I started to consider was the RME UFX - haven't seen any mentions of it here. I wonder why they went with FW 400 on this one. I've been considering the Fireface 800 since my mac mini has FW 800 and I'd think it would be better to daisy-chain an 800 hard drive with it than 400 so it...

When you're in NYC look for Sixpoint on tap. It's brewed in Brooklyn and just about all their brews are among my favorites.

I'm also open to grabbing a few beers if I'm around, and can show you some good eats as well.

5/12 afternoon conference gig NYC

I was offered a gig doing sound for a small conference in a midtown hotel next Thursday, but my schedule won't allow for me to do it. It's from 2pm-5pm with a noon setup time next Thursday, May 12. They need 8 wireless mics (6 lavs, 2 handheld- panel type setup) and the room is pretty small (I think...
