Re: Cheap Organ?
This idea will probably get slagged off as soon as I post it, but I recently got rid of my Mini-Compact after I realized my microKorg does a decent organ sound for what I need.
Plus someone offered me a sweet little '60s Silvertone Stratotone in trade for the Farfisa. How could I say no?

Re: trumpet players: I need a new mouthpiece any suggestions
Unfortunately, you may as well have asked, "what kind of guitar pick should I use?" The responses can be all over the place for all different uses. :) I started on a Bach 7C in 6th grade and went to a Bach 5C in 9th grade. I've been on the 5C ever since. That was around '89-'90. Charleston, SC would make my 'top 5 list of favorite cities' if I had a list like that. I love that town.
Congrats on the finds!

Re: Barack Obama
I honestly don't think our backward-minded fellow Americans would ever vote for a man named Barack Obama for president - no matter what race he happened to be. It makes me sad to say this, but I think a lot of them can't look past a name like that, just because it sounds foreign. Believe me though, ...

Hey, your location says "deep south". Where in the deep south are you located?
I'm curious because "a house that used to be a radio station" sounds like something one would find in a very rural area.

Check out Decline of Western Civilization Part I (the punk years), Part II (the metal years) and one called Another State of Mind if you can find them. The Hedwig and the Angry Inch DVD has a "Who is Hedwig?" documentary-type feature that's as long as the movie itself and is definitely worth watchin...

Re: Scoring gear from churches?
I have a '67 Dual Showman and matching 2x15 cabinet that I was told came from a church. I believe it too. There's nary a scratch on it and it came with the original speaker cable.
But I bought it from a little independent shop years ago.

The Franz Ferdinand CD is catchy as anything. I like it. And oddly enough, I'm a musician. Go figure.

There was a cool interview/article in the last Newsweek featuring them. The story made note that they record their albums live in the studio. I like reading things like that.

I'm working on one right now actually. It's called 'Oh, To Fuck a Movie Star'.
Some that I have finished are:
Gravity Got Me Down
If I Said I Wasn't Bored
One Short of a Million

Re: Ashlee Simpson WTF
At least that Simpson girl writes parts of her own songs. I heard on the internet (thank you Al Gore!!!!! for this informative opportunity!) that Modest Mouse's studio engineer ghost-wrote their last record for them, LAMe-O. He tweaked a waves plugin and the record "just happened". <--- actual quot...
