Re: Interpret the Dream I Had Over the Weekend

So many thoughtful analyses. I don't know how to thank you... or whether to thank you. Wing, you have much better gear than I, so don't expect any UPS deliveries anytime soon. If you get to Boston, though, I'll show you my SK-1. I suppose I should have expected a ton of responses leaning toward sexu...

Interpret the Dream I Had Over the Weekend

It's the Letterman show, and Paul and the band are there, playing the theme for a segment Dave has just finished (but I didn't catch). You know how the "Letters" song goes for Viewer Mail? -- "Letters, we get letters, we get stacks and stacks of letters...LEETTTTTEEERRRRSS!!!" Well, this song is the...

What'd you think of Skybar? It's close to my apt. Sorry I missed you, didn't see the post until just now.

Re: Walter Sear makes me cry

Spot on Walter! Keep the anecdotes rolling...lol I say this because the guys who are good enough to work at this full-time have gotten there because they have developed the chops. Amen to that. Anybody who has been around as long and has put as much thought and time into the recording of sound as S...

Re: In need of Manager!

Well, I know nothing about your band -- experience, fan base, relationships with clubs, etc., but it sounds as though if you are doing a lot of merch, you likely are doing pretty well. If you've never had to have amanager before, I'd suggest a couple of things: -- A "pro" manager may not be what you...

Re: a rant.

The rant is dead on. Unfortunately, it also only scratches the surface. I've got a meat locker full of beefs with the current administration. The issues you touch on are big and gross and disgusting (re: the draft, inverse, you make total sense -- too bad it took a sucky war to get me to think about...

Re: Sparklehorse "Happy Man"

i happen to know the WB people who work w the lips (and REM) and i have to say they are a breath of fresh air in major label world. they're A) very young (21-ish?) and B) very smart and have great taste in music, and C) fearless ..so far this is an exception to the rule from my 9 years of being ass...

Re: Rock's Big Bounce

We will not recognize the music industry (as we have become accustomed to it) in 5 years.

Any unknown band who signs to a major nowadays is completely insane. This is my mantra.

Re: Dave Chapelle and John Mayer

He's got chops I guess, but I don't dig the music. However, I agree re: his persona. Funny and pretty down-to-earth dude. I guess success could happen to a worse fella.

He did a "Blind Song Review" feature in some mag, I think SPIN, not long ago with David Cross that was hilarious.

Re: Sparklehorse "Happy Man"

only if the big labels had people behind them backing up great music/artists as such like the old days in the 60s/70s- the world would be a better place. if i could ever get into an a&r type position at one of those labels i'd be be making a lot of changes and seeking out stuff like this all the ti...

Re: Anyone fall in love with Mission of Burma all over again

I can't be sure but I think I saw Roger Miller last night at Bukowski in Inman Square, Cambridge. Swoon. I got into MoB in Tucson, before moving here. Me and a bass playin' friend listened to them a ton. Then I moved here and one of the first things I saw was a flyer advertising Roger Miller giving ...
