Re: scooters?

Tiger puke-- After months of reading about scooters on the web and a few years of being curious, I bought one last October. I live in the Boston area, where the street layout makes no sense and the drivers are insane. Why ride a scooter: -- in MA, anything 50cc or smaller is categorized as a "motori...

Re: Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind

Inverse, 'twas I who pm'd you. I look forward to yr response. As to the matter of a writer/director for yr adaptation, I would imagine that the chances of it seeing the big screen would be increased a thousandfold if the writer/director had any kind of reputation in the film world. Even a bad one. I...

But real people, living real lives, which is to say everyone, must exercise personal judgement, for the betterment of his own life and the lives of those around them. Re: tapeoppers in savannah, georgia????

Right, I'm not saying anything about these "stereo-types" except that they don't usually produce music that I like. That's all. If I was brought up in a roural setting I wouldn't like cosmopolitan indie post punk shit. It's a matter of musical taste and everybody knows that music is a product of th...

Re: Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind

I concur with the majority, the movie kicks ass. It's Kaufman's weirdest script (that I know of) by far. I think this is significant and encouraging. What happened was that "Adaptation" did so well on all scores that every A list star wanted to work with him. So he was able to get Jim Carrey, for in...

Re: Bob Log III's recorded work.

I used to live in Tucson and knew Log in the most casual way when he was one half of Doo Rag. They recorded their first release, "Chuncked and Muddled", live to two-track on their front porch. I'd be surprised if that's changed too terribly much. Hope that helps...

Re: College Radio Stations

Janus, thanks for the input. It's good that yr experience was honest. My overall point is that 1)even if you are at the level where theese companies can help you, they can still pad their reports, and 2) if you aren't at that level, sending out 300 cds isn't the best way to spend your cash. Another ...

not to hijack, but this gives an idea maybe of some better shows in Nashville , maybe -- jca83, did you go to River Stage or whatzit called? I flew into Nashville last weekend but spent the whole time in a state park in Georgia. I was psyched at the number of good bands making stops in Nashville, si...

Glagola 1 said -- All I can say is good luck. Finding good local acts is impossible because A) Savannah is kinda small B) Savannah is kinda redneck, poor black, olde south, gay, and rich art kids. bignerd, while I have complete respect for your commercial endeavor, and I wish you all the success in the world, I must disagree. Anewman doesn't have to consider it at all. In fact, I believe he shouldn't. Obviously he's got his reasons for running a free recording studio, and he hasn't revealed t...

Re: What sound are we aiming for?

I think that one of the very reasons that so many people are into recording is that they want to use the recording process creatively, just as a musician uses his or her instrument. The "studio as instrument" angle has been used to great effect in many areas, including dub, and in more subtle ways i...
