I would say:

Yamaha Sound Reinforcement Handbook

Behind the Glass

Creative Recording Part 1: Effects and Processors by Paul White

The Recording Engineer's Handbook by Bobby Owsinski

and the Tape Op book is awesome.

I just got a 388 not to long ago. Here is a rough mix of a song I am working on. I won't finish it until after the holidays. The bango part is just a scratch take and I need to do something about the lap steel at about 3:38. And I want to bring up the synths at certain points also. Even though this ...

Spring reverb from guitar amp to the console?????

This might be a stupid question.... I have a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe and I was wondering if I could use the spring reverb in it without using the speaker. I want to use it through the aux sends or inserts. Can this be done with out blowing something up? The only post reverb out I can find is 1/4 inch ...

OT but totally fun...74 Bands

This is a great way to waste an hour. There are 74 bands represented in the picture in the links. I found about 70. It helps to use both links.

I use a TC Electronics M-One-XL and I like it very much. You might be able to get an original M-One on ebay for a couple hundred.

Wow, that REALLY sucks. I used to visit there all the time. I have had a 788 for a long time and I JUST got a 388. And by JUST I mean I haven't even finished hooking it all up yet. I know I'm going to have a ton of questions about it and that site was going to be my main resource. Damn. Now I will j...

I mostly record myself (as of now...) so I have and use a "money" channel. Most of the time I'm recording one thing at a time. So I invested in basically the best I could afford....Great River pre, Speck EQ, and a Distressor. I also have my utility stuff...RNP, RNC, Sytek, RNLA, console EQ, etc. Sam...

i have a gefell UMT70S that i think sounds really good. M7 / transformerless. i haven't compared it to any of the above mentioned mics, in fact it's a fluke that i own it at all, so i never did any comparison shopping or anything. at any rate, it's worth checking out if you record alot of quiet sou...

I will second ( or 3rd or 4th...) the Audio-Technica 4050. Excellent mutli-pattern mic for the money. I got 2 for $700. They were B-stock but I got the full warranty so I figured I couldn't lose....and I didn't. But it seems the place I got them no longer has them any more though. I've seen them go ...

There is a dvd about the making of DSOTM. It has tons of interesting footage of PF recording. It is in the "Classic Albums" dvd series.

Here is a sample of the crunchy drum machine. This is a rough mix of a uncompleted song I was working on. The intro is the raw unprocessed drum machine. The drum machine is doubled in the intro with one set back in time a bit to give it that feel. At 9 seconds it is one drum machine with the full cr...
