Here's an easy, cheap mod for you. Check where the neck meets the body on your instrument. If there is ANY gap in that pocket, take the neck off and plug the screw holes with dowell rods. Cut off the excess and sand flat. Redrill those holes about an 1/8th" back from the original location (toward th...

I'm going to put in my vote for the Yamaha Magic Stomp. You can hook it up to your computer via USB and really get DEEP(!) inside the programs then transfer them into the pedal's memory. The amp models are as good as you're going to get from a chip. You are somewhat limitted when it comes to chainin...

Yes. They work great. Put one up next to the great vocal mic you're using and print each sound to different tracks. I second that. They're great for doubling. To add to this, I like to leave the "good" track dry and apply any effects (delays especially) to the CB track. Because of the narrow bandwi...

Re: Woman rockers.

My Favorites:
Carla Bozulich (Scarnella, Geraldine Fibbers, Ethel Meatplow)
Thalia Zedek (Come)
Mary Timony (Helium)
They all have solo stuff out, too, that's awesome.

Re: Acoustic Guitar Repair: Glues for bracing?

Tite bond is fine. "A Bond Stronger than Wood". I've used it on all the guitars I've built. Just make sure that you clean the two surfaces that you are gluing VERY well and you let it dry (clamped) for at least a day.

For Clamps, go here.

Geekiest record: Taco "After Eight"
Geekiest CD: "Golden Hits of Leslie Gore"

I still listen to them both regularly.

Re: score writing

I work with print music all day at my job at a distributor. Finale is definitely the standard. Everyone at the major publishing houses use it. Sibelius is starting to give it a run for it's money, but that's basically because they've implemented the Scorch viewer (free), so printed music can be view...

Re: Guitars: New, used, or vintage

Asking strangers what kind of guitar you should get is like asking where you left that thing you have to mail (see OT). But let me throw out something that nobody has mentioned. If you want a guitar that fits you perfectly, build it yourself. There are so many place (Warmoth, Stu-mac, etc) that will...

Re: What's the best digital camera under $200?

I'll second the Nikon Coolpix series. I bought one last year and love it. I did a bunch of research before hand, and at the time (things may have changed), it had the best lens of the sub $300 cameras. People seem to only look at pixel count and feature doo-dads, without worrying too much about the ...

Re: wing + other website makers

Hey Bedbug, I just noticed you're a Newport boy. I grew up in Cincinnati. Fond, fond memories of playing at the Southgate house, York Street, and all the other northern KY haunts. Some of my old bandmates are playing as Debalto, now. Ever check them out? I think they mostly stick to the Ohio side of...

A little trivia... the singer/guitar player in the The Frames played the guitar player in that Alan Parker movie, The Commitments.

Re: blank CD packaging

Cool, thanks for the leads. After doing a little research on my own, I found out that Fireproof Press got their sleeves from Calumet Carton, too. I did find their website, but got the impression that you had to order A LOT. Though they look like a very cool company. For any of you other DIYers, I fo...

blank CD packaging

Does anybody have a good source for digipaks without any printing on them. Or even those cardboard sleeves (Chicago people- like fireproof used to use)? I keep searching around the internet and all I can ever find are jewel cases, clamshells, or mailing supplies. Bonus points if they come in kraft. ...
