I really don't find kick and snare centering much of a problem with an MS overhead; The stereo spread isn't very wide.

I use MS alot. The project I'm working on right now I have an MS OH and a MS room. The MS room was pretty close, more of a FOK and then delayed 15-18 ms.

Re: Good, Moderately Priced PA/Bass Amp for Keys and Bass?

They both do alright jobs for practice but when cranked like we would be when playing out they don't sound so great. I've been doing live sound for a LONG time and I can tell you that you will sound your best if you try to create a nice balance at rehersal and then keep it the same during your perf...

I've ben trying to NOT use Beyerdynamic M160s for a few years now, but it's tough. I used a pair of M-Audio Sputniks recently that worked out pretty well.

I don't like the alternative of inserting the compressor on a group and assigning just the vocal to the group. First, it forces you to mix on the group fader (which is fine, you're supposed to mix on them instead of just leaving them at unity), but you have to be disciplined and leave the channel f...

I agree with Nate, they look like old 50 pin centronics. I used to have a job making custom computer cables and those are way easier to solder than 25 pin D subs. Go for it.

It would be hard to record too low with 24 bit conversion. The digial garbage is 40+ db lower with 24 bit compared to 16bit. Record conservatively so that you never clip and then gain up to a more workable level later, but don't use a limiter plug.

"there is an insane amount of time-sig changes, so I'm sure we'll spend a day or two setting up click tracks first"

Red flag. The drummer should have already been practicing to the click for weeks if not months.

In addition to the 15' cube room (yikes!), I would like to point out that you really want your console and therefore your monitors centered L/R in the control room. In my opinion that space is not large enough to be split into two rooms.

That looks correct. What is baffling is why they would wire the dedicated speakon for the bridged output that way. They could have wired it so that a unmodified speakon to speakon cable could be used.

I have a Musicmaster. It's an open backed 10" combo. It consistantly beets all comers in semi-blind comparisons.

I'm wondering if there isn't a furnace on the other side of that "red" wall with ducts feeding the third floor. That would be the most obvious path for sound to travel to the landlord's space.
