I've had consisant good experience with Audio Accessories patchbays. Buy the frame and only the number of jacks you need. Solder directly to the jacks. I like Gepco single pair. Buy more jacks as you get more gear. Top quality, reasonable price.

Coil it properly with alternating twists except tighter than normal to "train" it. Try a 5" circle instead af a 10" circle. The kinks will work themselves out.

I've worked with a few bands that use ipods for backing tracks. They use cheapo mixers to split and drive the drummer's headphones. Maybe a cabling issue? If you plug ear buds into the ipod and only put one in at a time is there bleed?

I find myself in the awkward position of disagreeing with the Professor. A 10khz sine wave would be sampled about 4 times at 44.1, 9 times at 96, or 19 times at 192. There is no mathmatical reason that the 10khz sine wave will be reconstructed more or less accurately at any of the the sampling rates...

A sine wave will not be represented with more accuracy because it is sampled more often. 1000 samples or 4 samples, same accuracy. It seems counterintuitive but if it weren't true then digtal recording as we know it wouldn't work.

The first step for getting the "Kill The Moonlight" bass sound is for the bass player to learn the whole CD and practice it a lot. That will probably get him/her closer than anything else.

If he can rewire the cab for a lower impedance then the a solid state amp driving it will produce more power and therefore more sound.

I agree about the drummer bashing the cymbals, and that is probably even more likely in a performance situation. Also, whenever I do the 3 mic thing, it usually requires som moving of mics and listening to the phase relationships. That's probably not possible during a live show.

I have used one a few times tracking vocals. I liked it. My normal tracking comp. is an API 2500.

I have set up a speaker in the room before the band arrived and played a tone as a way to check continuity on the mics without an assistant. Maybe "Phil" has seen something like this and read more into it?

I've never heard the 150, but I use a 120 daily and I have to say it'a a pretty nice sub. It will go as low and loud as i need. The Mackie subs are a little pricey, but they do have real drivers (RCF).

As a house sound guy I've had a few bands lately using an ipod. They go into a mini mixer like a Behringer. One side is mono tracks the other is click for the drummer (in ears/headphones).
