For direct application to brick or plaster I would use 3M "Super 77" spray adhesive. You can get it at Home Depot/Lowes.

Rod Gervais' book "Home Recording Studio-Build It Like The Pros" is exellent. Read it twice before you even think about building!

Since everbody is talking about the M380, here is test I recorded last month. The bass is a 1973 P-Bass and the amp is a Musicmaster 15w single 10" open back. I've always liked how it sounded but it is a bit thin. I tried the M380 on it to take advantage of it's HUGE proximity effect. The mic is hun...

No need to patch an actual output back to an input. Re-route everythng to an internal buss instead of "Analog 1-2" Make the stereo track you are recording your mix have the internal buss as it's input and "Analog 1-2" as it's output.

You could get a Beyer M160 and M130 for $1000 and use them as a MS pair. I doubt if Albini does it, but I use them as a front of kit main pair all the time and you can dfinately get a roomy and smooth yet punchy sound from them.

I had an opportunity to rent a large warehouse space for recording. It would require that I build an isolated control room within the space.

I estimated that a 16' x 21' room with double leaf contructio would cost $10,000. That is with me doing all the labor; framing, electrical, HVAC, etc.

I use the DBX 2231's daily. They are decent, probably the cheapest useable 31 band. It has been my experience that a crappy graphic is un-useable and a waste of money. Your PA will sound/work better without the unit.

It has been my experience that the Ampeg 8x10 does sound different when "cranked". I think it is due to the design; 4 pairs of sealed 2x10 chambers. More cone travel results in more "suction" from the lower air pressure in the cabinet. The louder you play the more compressed the sound.

That "snare laying on a speaker" technique works pretty well when you have only snare over and want more snare under. I think your best bet is to trigger a sample from the under snare.

I've made a few racks with wood rails. All my rails have been oak. The oak 1" x 2" at Home Depot/Lowes are perfect. I use a metal rack rail as a guide to drill pilot holes. #10 x 3/4" screws. I've never stripped one. Good luck!

There is definately something more going on. Listen to the last line. I have no idea what effect that is but it is definately not spill from a vocal PA!

I'm running a dual G5 and Pro Tools 7. PT 7 can utilise both processors! You might not need a UAD.
