You should fill at least half the depth with material. 8" of fluffy pink would work fine.

You guys can laugh all you want, but I think his voice sounds great! Stop using your eyes and use your ears. I can't wait to try this at my next gig.

Take your favorite CD. Patch it through a reverb. 60ms predelay, 3 seconds decay, 60% wet.

I don't think pieces of cloth hanging from the ceiling are even going to make a dent in stopping your room from sounding like the example above.

If you do that, you are going to have someone speaking into an out of phase XY pair.

If you are building a room inside a room then your inner frame is already decoupled from the outer frame. I don't think there is any benefit to using resilient channel on an independent frame.

The Grateful Dead used to employ the two mics out of phase deal with their Wall Of Sound. It was the only way they could have the vocal mics in front of the all those speakers.

I make pencil marks on the edge of any drywall that's already up, or the floor to show the center of each channel. Get the new panel in place with a few screws on the edge. Snap chalk lines on the panel to show where the channel is. Definitely get a lift for the ceiling. Man I hate hanging drywall.

I guess the ultimate question is: how far does your ceiling drop using a resilient channel- RC2 clips + drywall. If it is less than 2 inches I could imagine not caring. RC1 and RC2 aren't used with clips. They are channel and attach directly to the underside of the joists. You lose a half inch from...

Does GG recommend "pre-glueing" like that? At $30+ per sheet I'd think you would want to do it right!

He talks about the necessity for doing it, but doesn't really give the size/type of board that is best for bracing, how frequently to space them etc (I'll check again in case I'm wrong). . Well, I'm no expert, but I would replace the bracing back where it was. I'm pretty sure that solid blocking is...

I'd forget about dealing with Pro Tools sessions. Consolidated .wav files are less problematic. They send your buddy a reference mix and a click. He sends back a bass track.

I built some traps for the club that I mix. I used 703 and some regular pink fiberglass covered with Duvatene cloth which is fire resistant. I kept the cut sheet for the cloth and a scrap of 703 in case the Fire Marshall was ever curious. They were up for years when the Great White deal happened. Th...

I like the idea of splitting and recording both signals. If you must combine before recording you could use this:

I'm using ProTools LE. I know how to automate using points the "volume line" and it would be no trouble to go in by hand and turn down the loud kicks. But this, then, essentially disables the fader. You've now set your level for that track and can't easily turn the track up or down After you automa...

And the whole "copy" process. I know how you can do this with a DAW, but using an ADAT or earlier - tape machines. How did engineers do this back in the day.
