Yeah, it's seemingly oxymoronic...but I couldn't help thinking that it does exist when I heard "Long Distance Runaround" on the radio. It's like a meat-and-potatoes prog song (complete with crunchy rickenbacker bass, oddball time signatures, instrumental wankerism- er, I mean prowess ) grafted onto...

i have posted links to all the mp3s and everything... but i want to create something almost album-like on the internet. like....a pop up window, running some sort of flash mp3 player, that requires the listener to do nothing to get from song to song, it just plays. and we can have the art we would ...

Re: DIY MIDI kit for Casio SK-1!
Dang....I'm right in the middle of getting the Tablebeast bends done and he puts his patch bay right where they say the midi kit should be installed. Maybe there'll still be room.... I went the "urban sprawl" route when I started bending this thing awhile back. I wanted to keep my speaker, and stil...

Re: illumina record release @ the Mercury Lounge NYC - Tonig
Open letter to Marcocet: Illumina totally saved my ass last night. Let me explain. My wife and I moved to NYC in December, and hadn't really had a chance to see any live music up here yet. I was on the subway Friday, and saw a blurb about Illumina in The Metro. I thought, hey - that's a TOMB band, m...

Re: DIY MIDI kit for Casio SK-1!
Oh, I should add that after my exhaustive ten minutes of testing :D , there did not seem to be any conflicts with my bends and the MIDI board. The module attaches to the ribbon cable that connects the keyboard to the circuit board, and presumably just tricks the circuit board into thinking it is get...

Re: DIY MIDI kit for Casio SK-1!
Just finished my kit, and I am really freakin' excited. I now have a MIDI-controllable circuit-bent SK-1.8) I would recommend one of these kits in a heartbeat. The guy who's making them was quick to ship, and the kit was complete when I got it. The online instructions were thorough, and the kit coul...

Re: Finished the Gakken Gramophone - what gives?
Yeah! I put mine together about two weeks ago, and I'm having the same results. The needle takes a few seconds to catch, which by that time is about halfway down the record, and then seems to be cutting nicely. Playback=nothing. I've re-calibrated, and I've really yelled into the damn cone, but to n...

Re: How to open wine without cork screw???
Ahhh... Learned this last wekend, the hard way. I bought four bottles of liquor and a bottle of red wine for a party. When I got home, I put all of them in the freezer, forgetting that one of them was wine. A couple hours later...voila! - open bottle of wine. Which had to be thawed. Which then taste...

DIY MIDI kit for Casio SK-1!
Hey synth nerds, Check this out. MIDI add-on kits for Casio SK- series synths! I just ordered one, and am very hopeful that it will work smoothly. I remember there being plans out a few years ago to make your own, but you had to have an EPROM writer, etc. This guy is providing the whole kit, ready t...
