clap tracks suck don't they? while it won't help you on this track, what i was turned on to recently is instead of clapping and doing multiple takes of dudes standing there trying to clap in time with their last pass of claps..... have them slap their thighs with both hands, automatically gives you ...

SSL Reel Disk not ready problems
Hey Everyone, I'm having alot of trouble sorting out an issue with an SSL computer. It refuses to talk to the reel drive. It's got a 490 CPU with the expanded memory and a sasi card to talk to 3.5" drives. I can swap the jumpers on the drive and make the one in the reel position become the program a...

Up and Running!!! Chris is the man.....took about half an hour and some reflowing on the molex pins in the chimmney of the power supply. Chris even showed me some cool things with the MVC that I never would have found. Hit FF then touch the MVC and it'll lock and do a better packed wind with the tap...

Have you tried looking for a cross from NTE? Mouser carries their parts. Alot of times with obsolete parts NTE buys up stock of them then reprints their own part number across them if they don't already make a cross reference. http://nte01.nteinc.com/nte/NTExRefSemiProd.nsf/$$Search?OpenForm -justin

JH-110B Take up Issues
Hello Everyone, My beloved JH110B is being a jerk. He's decided that he doesn't want to spin the take up motor at all. So, no play, record, fast forward or mvc. I've had some issues in the past with the Braking on that motor but that is set up and running fine now. Here's what I know I've swapped th...

those desks are pretty straight forward. I'm going to guess you're at Berklee and itching to get going on the new APIs they have scheduled to be delivered. They work just like most inline desks. Except the mic pre is in a seperate package that feeds down to the line input module which has all the mu...

Something I did on a project in college was set up the vocalist (in this case a rapper) with a normal cardioid and then about 8 feet back in the room I put up some spaced Omnis about 8 feet apart. At Mix time, the omni's were gated to duck down about 3db during the bulk of the vocal, but I used the ...

I totally just treat ProTools as my tape machine without the razor blades and tweaking. I've got 16 channels of I/O which might be kind of limiting but it works for me. I will submix anything with multiple mics like kick in and out and bass amp/DI to a mono channel to send to the desk and I'll also ...

I've built several supplies for these desks and I have to agree the PowerOne, International Power, or Condor supplies are simply the best way to go. Especially if you go with one of the Linear ones , switching power supplies are okay, but I don't like them on my audio rails. If you wanna save a bit ...
