Re: Recommend me an interface!

If I were buying one today I'd take a long hard look at the Audient stuff:

Re: Computers/Mac

Lowly 'ol home recorder here. I'm on a 2009 iMac and an original (#200 something) MH labs 2882 interface. I think the Mac is finally closing in on it's retirement. I can no longer update Logic, as I can no longer update Mac OS on this machine. I would likely hang on it to even so, but I've started t...

Re: Live Looping Recording (Logic)

If anyone cares, you can achieve a cycle record that generates new tracks (while NOT muting the previous ones) in Logic with software instruments. I can't get it to work on audio tracks--even though the setting options are identical inside recording preferences. Grrrrr...

Live Looping Recording (Logic)

Does anyone know if there's a way, preferably using Logic, to do loop-based recording, but wind up with separate tracks? I think Digital Performer has this capability through its Polar function. Logic has cycle record, but that just generates takes (muting the prior ones as you go). Mainstage kind o...

28 Recent Issues (for Twin Cities Pick-up only)

I have about 28-30 recent issues, plus the TapeOp book I'd like to give away. I don't want to ship, so if you're in the Twin Cities area and want them, you can have them.

Ideas for Writing/Recording w/Kids!?!?

Wasn't sure which forum to ask this in, so forgive. I’m going to do a little project with 4-6 third graders. Basically, we're going to write and record a song. I know I’ll need to put a ton of structure around it, but I still want them to “write” it. I have a simple home studio set-up: Logic, keyboa...

I didn't know her before this, but it's a nice little piece on her and women in recording.

I'll be pissed if this happens soon. My toe-dipping in bluetooth headphones has yielded poor results.

I bought a pair of Equator Audio D5's based on recommendations here a few years back. They replaced some Event PS8's. I think they were in the $400-500 range, came with a pair of "vibration pads." Anyways... I'm not expert, but they are much better for both monitoring and just plain listening than t...

I've always found that my performances are better if they're not to a click, so if I want a precise tempo, I will: 1. record guitar to a click 2. record drums while listening only to the guitar (no click) 3. replace the guitar while listening only to the drums. That way the keeper takes were all do...

DIY by Yourself, of Yourself, sadly probably for Yourself...

The Glyn Johns article got me thinking about something I've been struggling with. I love his thoughts on bands and tracking together and having someone play a tom louder if they say they can't hear it, etc. I'm not currently playing with anyone and do all my writing and recording by myself. I'm curi...
