As a former GC employee I can assure you: Nothing that happens at guitar center reflects reality. EVER. and all the shit on the floor is broken, mostly always. You're better off just getting a loaner from a legit pro-audio dealer even if it takes more time/driving. On another note, I like the sound...

I'm not dissing the RME stuff, as I have zero experience with it. However, I have heard things online (take this with a grain of salt) concerning RME and Mac Intel drivers. I have also heard things regarding the guy who runs RME having no interest in the Mac side of the computer universe. Now, I do...

my mac's pre-intel, so i can't say for sure, but i do know that RME is historically on top of their shit when it comes to timely and reliable driver-support across all platforms. Thats what I understand...the guy said that this is a Apple iMac driver (?) issue.....?????? I said "why the fuck would ...

Both of those units are going to have pristine sound. If there was a high noise floor, the unit may have been bad. I've never had an issue with my FF800, drivers or otherwise (MacBook). Score another for GC.... Check this...the guy was hooking it up to a newer iMac and he said that Apple cha...

Guitar Center / Apogee /RME / Metric Halo BS....
you mean ideas on troubleshooting the computer at your local Guitar Center, or ideas on which of these interfaces is more desireable? there were some opinions on the latter subject expressed over here recently. Yeah actually I am wondering if others have had issues with using the RME800 and Intel M...

Optigans are notoriously noisy and warbly...it is mostly a mechanical unit so cleaning and adjusting the drive mech can help quite abit ...cleaning the light bulb is simple just use maybe a detergent like 409 at first to get any nicotine etc off than use anhydrous alchohol and make sure to not get a...

Guitar Center /Apogee Ens / RME 800 help??
So a friend of mine and I forced ourselves to go to the Guitar Center here as I needed to actually hear the Apogee Ensemble and the RME..after looking at crap for awhile and actually getting ignored by sales KIDS (maybe the Cramps t-shirt I wore??) Finally had a guy show me the Apogee hooked up to a...

Really? Is Digidesign hardware / software really that limiting????? If you want to mix on an analog desk, then yes, a maximum of 18 outputs can be very limiting for more modern production styles. 4) PT LE will most likely force you to do a lot of work ITB. Can you live without ADC? Huh? Analog Digi...

Otherwise, the output limitations of a traditional LE will likely limit you to doing most, if not all of your serious mixing with a mouse or control surface. For some folks, this is not a problem. But, it's always been a minor annoyance to me. Really? Is Digidesign hardware / software really that li...

Re: Help losing mind over DAW-conv-comp issue.....
Hey Good luck with your search (I use an old Aardvark card so I won't comment on converters). However, I do think you should check out Reaper before getting hooked to either PT or Logic. Lot's o' people flipping out over it, great flexibility. Its what I settled on - spent the money saved on upgrad...

wow, i'm glad your rig sounds good with tube mics, my wok cooks really good beef... fortunately i can also cook chicken OR vegetables... Thats funny... the PT/Logic debate is old and tired, and everyone has an opinion. Yeah I am realizing this more and more..BUT I actually didnt upgrade my setup ba...

Help losing mind over DAW-conv-comp issue.....
Ive had an easier time buying a car. I *think* ive decided on a top line Mac Book Pro as I really like the idea of being able to take it around to work on audio whilst not being tied to the studio plus possible live recording. The next issue is Pro Tools or Logic?? Pro Tools seems to be the standard...
