Thanks for the tips. I'll make measurements of the room this weekend and post them up.

I just have a snake and power cord coming from it, and my desk is on wheels. So maybe I'll turn it the other way for mixing.

Desk / monitor placement in long room.

This is the room setup I would like to do in my basement. It's a large basement with low ceilings. http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a165/digital19/Untitled-1-1.jpg I really don't have money to actually wall off a control room, but basically I would like to have the desk facing in to the room. I rea...

Re: Adobe Premier makes me homicidal

Likewise, I did Premiere editing for the longest time... and suffered through strange quirky errors. I'm sure Final Cut Pro is an agenda item at all Avid board meetings.

Vegas for PC is also much more stable.

Re: the new G5s--best option?

It seems more stable.. For using EXS24 -> tons/much more stable

I'd like to get Reaktor eventually to see how far I can push it, but for now it's more than adequate.

Re: the new G5s--best option?

Yeah.. .Final Cut is pretty amazing.

If you really want to save on monitors you can always just pick up two used 17 inch VGA monitors... it's a lot of screen, and you should be able to find them for about $60 a piece. That and one DVI-VGA adapter from the Mac store and you're set.

Re: the new G5s--best option?

I'd max out the processor speed.

You can buy ram from other sources way cheaper than from the Mac store.

I use Logic with 2 gb ram, pretty massive computer imho (coming from the pc world anyway)

Re: Thank God for Using that tsunami to kill all those homos

If anything I wouldn't consider this a curse. Think about how disasters bring all that is wonderful about humanity together. I know that there are millions suffering but there are many more millions who want to help, to bring something good to our world. It's sad that it takes disaster to bring hum...

Yeah! I went ape about this thing too... My friend thought I'd been watching too many infomercials, but these days if I can save time and still eat well I'm happy.

Re: my rhythm tracks suck

King Kong Kitchie Kitchie = thanks for the tip. Betamonkey looks neat, especially for using to compose rock songs. I was also going to recommend... find a song you really like... tap tempo to find it's bpm and try to imitate it. There's a program called Amazing Slow Downer http://www.ronimusic.com Y...

Nice place to start for grooves: http://jazz-sheet-music-scores.com/Sheet-Music-Songs/Funkmasters_The_Great_James_Brown_Rhythm_Sections_1960-1973.shtml I have a friend that's a really good drummer and when he gets in his zone his use of what would be called Midi Velocity is amazing! I realize I don'...

Have you thought about a Communication Studies major?

Look for something with a media production slant.

Re: STILL don't think the media is biased against Bush?

All I can say is, if a woman producer would have come out against Michael Moore claiming that he had phone sex with her...

... Even if it was completely false it would have been nightly news until Nov. 2.

Against O'reilly... What did it get, one day of coverage?
