Re: Quirky Mastering Situation

It sounds like it may be a limitation of the original mix (you did describe it as lo fi and that you didn't know what you were doing at the time). Do you have the ability to remix? Did you ask the ME for feedback on the mix you sent him? If you have the ability to remix, ask him what the biggest iss...

What do people find appealing about vinyl?

No offense, but is this just another silly hipster think like hair buns and bad beards that we're all going to laugh at years from now?

Spend $1000-$1500 on the best laptop you can get and don't look back. - more quiet than a tower - built in battery backup for power losses - portable - small footprint - enough power to handle hundreds of tracks and hundreds of plugins. Spend 2 grand and you can get 2 nice laptops that you keep mirr...

I LOVE this mic on multiple sources. I haven't found anything that it sounds bad on. It really shines on heavy guitar, but also sounds great on mandolin, tambourine and banjo and harmonica. It takes eq well too.

This was 1982 folks. The only part I found back then that worked as a compander chip was the NE570. I also used that part in 1988 when I designed a PWM subcode audio noise reduction scheme for Hasbro video games. I got about a 90 db s/n from using the 'black bars' between video frames to bury the s...

Midway through Interstate, excellent tune! Nice work. Recording sounds great.
Listening to the World in Love now, great tones! Can you talk about how you captured the various instruments?

You've got a lot of talent, kudos.

I find that an amp sim set to a clean setting can help string parts poke through a mix. I usually start with Amplitube with one of the Vox AC30 settings and tweak from there.

Where is the link to the message board on the main page?

I've noticed for the last week or so that the Board link from the main page is missing, but not all of the time. Currently when I go to the main page, the links across the mustard yellow banner are Questions, Blog, Shop, Resources, FAQ, Contact.

Please advise.

Thanks E money for being real and in a humble way I bit off more than I could chew because I thought it would be a simple blown fuse based off of another piece of gear I fixed that had a similar problem. Dude plugged it into a 220 and I opened that unit up and boom blown fuse replaced fuse and it w...

The only learning experience to be gained here is you'll quickly learn that you've bitten off way more than you can chew. Getting a fried chip out is damn near impossible without the proper tools, you'll end up destroying some of the traces trying to extract that thing and you're going to get frustr...

I'm liking what I hear so far, nice work! How long did the whole project take you? Go through your process a little bit, how did you construct the songs? What instrument did you generally lay down first? Did you play all of the instruments? What did you use to get your various sounds? Again, very ni...
