I've only ever seen solid wood mallets for hammered dulcimers. I've searched for metal ones but haven't found anything. Hopefully someone here will know.

What kind of mallet is this?

Does anyone know what kind of mallet she's using on the autoharp at the start of this video and where I could get one?

Thanks,

High resolution printing of waveform - suggestions?

Hi, I'm looking to make some large prints of waveforms, but I'm not sure of how to get a high enough resolution image. Taking a screenshot of PT, Logic etc will only give 72dpi but I need something closer to 300dpi. Does anyone know of software that can display the waveform of an audio file and let ...

Where to buy splicing tape and bake tape in Toronto?

Hi,

I'm going to be archiving a whole lot of 1/4" tape and was wondering if anyone knows where I can buy splicing tape in Toronto?

I might need to bake some of the tape and was looking for recommendations on where to get it done? Also, how long do you have after baking to do the transfer?

Thanks

Paul Simon - what mic is this?

Does anybody recognize this mic? I believe it was used extensively for the entire Graceland tour.

Thanks for all the info! Given that the Folcrum is the same basic concept (passive summing with your choice of preamp for makeup gain) would you expect it and the DIY to sound similarly transparent before hitting the pre? Any thoughts on how something like these devices into a pair of Neves (for exa...

Is it worth getting the Digi OO3R modded by BLA? Was thinking about that route too...I have some good external pre's... This question became slightly more complicated recently. Avid has announced that it will no longer be supporting the 003 (or 002, mbox 2 and Command|8 ) when they release Pro Tool...

Lemur for iOS

I just saw this:

Very cool. If I remember right, Lemur's cost around $3000 about 5 years ago. Now it's only $50 if you have an iPad.

You need to install the Audio Unit (AU) version of the plugin for Logic. It does not use VST.

Aether is my most recent reverb purchase and by far the best I've used. It can do both extremely natural sounding reverb and crazy weird modulated sound design things.

I think there are a couple of things making Graham's guitar sound loud on that song. The first is the bass. Notice how the guitar sounds big in the intro, but when the bass kicks in, the guitar suddenly sounds much louder. As far as I can tell, the guitar tone hasn't actually changed yet, but doubli...

I've been using it for about a year, sort of like how i used to use a Folcrom for summing....... It kind of reminds me of mixing with a Folcrom, in the sense that things don't sound quite so two-dimensional. I've been considering buying a Folcrom for a while, but have also been intrigued by the Har...
