Re: Doves (the band)
I agree, this band is amazing. Their production is always great. I especially love the almost "pocket recorder" sound of some of the acoustic tracks on Last Broadcast. i think a tape op interview is mandatory

yes, it's rewire. I have Reason 2.5 and Pro Tools 6.4 and it works great together.

Re: Anyone with Universal Audio Gear
I bought a 6176 a few months back and haven't been this happy with an all in one unit ever. I love it. Especially on vocals and guitars.

Re: String Gauge
I use 13's but i tune down a half step and then sometimes drop to "drop c#"
I would probvably play 14's if they were readily available. I think thicker strings sound better and are better at staying in tune... If you want to do solo's then this is obviously not a good choice.

Re: Mastering out of Pro Tools... Advice?
Yeah, I've been using this and like it for rough mixes: Ren Comp - just a touch of opto Ren EQ 6 as required C4 even dB boost L1+ PAZ Analyzer Since I started using this and comparing my favorite mixes on the PAZ, my rough mixes have improved 100%. Nothing beats an experienced mixer on real gear an...

Re: Mastering out of Pro Tools... Advice?
The L1+ is great for just a simple slamming of a master fader. it does increase a little low end, but you probably want some kind of eq for that instead. It's also great to use to listen to a 24 bit mix in 16bit dithered. The C4 (these are all Waves plugs, BTW) has some pretty good down and dirty q...

Mastering out of Pro Tools... Advice?
I'm trying to throw something on the Master fader in pro tools to do some "quick" mastering. Just something to beef up my mixes and most of all make them louder. I plan to get real mastering done when I finish the record, but this is just to listen for now. I have T-RACKS and have been trying to use...

Re: Achieving "The Cure" -like bass sounds
If you are speaking of Fascination Street, I would say start by using a MUSICMAN bass or a G&L. It's something about those pickups in those basses give it that sound....

agreed.d-bolan wrote:Dave Sardy did the Jet record. He's a really talented fella. He mixed that Supergrass album that was out last year that sounded like T-Rex which was amazing. I don't think that Jet would be as big if he hadn't put his touch on that record.

They sure do.... I figure as long as later on in life, they can maybe learn where it all came from...
Speaking of Jet, I think that album sounds fantastic.. One of the better sounding big selling rock records I've heard in a while.

Re: Anyone use VocAlign for Pro Tools?
I tried the demo and while it may work for certain situations, I think doing it manually is the way to go. I might buy it if it were cheaper.
BTW. Throwing Green Day in the same sentence as Good Charlotte is pretty unfair. C'mon now
