WTB: Korg OASYS PCI

Ran across a bunch of old PT sessions that had MIDI tracks which pointed to my long-since-sold OASYS, and I’d love to get one fired up again to revive those tracks (and keep myself entertained during COVID) If anyone has one for sale at a reasonable price, I’m interested. Already have a Mac G4 runni...

Re: Any DAW that supports "grouping" regions for edits?

Thanks! I tried Reaper, and didn’t find it as intuitive as I’d have hoped. A close friend uses it and offered to give me a lesson/primer. Might Take him up on it... but I already own PT2020.05, I just barely touch PT anymore. When I wrap the current comedy album, I’m gonna try some of the next album...

Re: Perfect Empty boxes for shipping 1RU devices?

Wow... plethora of info! Thanks guys! I am pricing out options, and I'll definitely look up local packaging/paper companies. We have a lot of them nearby. Worst-case, I can buy minimum 20 & 30 boxes of the two most appropriate boxes. I'd be buying 20 x 14 x 4 for the unit + 22 x 16 x 6 to double-box...

Perfect Empty boxes for shipping 1RU devices?

Hey there, I'm probably gonna purge a bunch of gear in the next several months — and due to COVID-19, I'm probably gonna reduce my Craigslist'ing... and I'll probably do a bunch of Ebay/Reverb/TOMB selling. I've probably got 15-20 units that need new homes... most are 1 rack unit, some are 2. So I'm...

Re: 16 more channels of analog compression

No problem — I’m not in a hurry, and there’s no shortage of those on eBay/reverb

Re: 16 more channels of analog compression

And I’ve never used the comparable Drawmers, but I’ll bet they’re even nicer that the 1046/1066.

Re: 16 more channels of analog compression

Oh man! I have no idea what I'm missing, since the 266XL is the "best" compressor I've ever owned. Mostly, I think I was looking for opinions on the Drawmer and the 1046 AND wondering if there were any sleeper hardware units out there that I should be looking for That’s all the more reason to go wit...

Re: 16 more channels of analog compression

So much of what’s said above is true... but if you ally truly wanted 16 ch. of usable compression, and you don’t want to break the bank... I think you might be very happy with 4 dbx 1046’s. I have one, and I’ve used it a number of sources. It doesn’t rock my world, but it keeps things in check and d...

Re: Any DAW that supports "grouping" regions for edits?

Yeah — I may end up having to do these in Pro Tools, in the future (or learn Reaper). But in the meantime, I did start trying a work-around today. I normally use color codes for various things, but if I strip everything down to the default "region/track" color in Logic... I can just designated anoth...

Re: Any DAW that supports "grouping" regions for edits?

Thanks for all jumping in to offer ideas & help. The "grouping tracks" isn't what I'm after... as that would cause ALL regions on the same track to slide together. Here's another illustration of what I'm after: If I've overlapped a few regions (with cross-fades on the same track)... like the followi...

Any DAW that supports "grouping" regions for edits?

Hi there! This may end up being a fairly easy question... but I've been working in DAW's a long time, and I don't recall ever running into this need quite so much... so I don't believe I really ever tried to solve this until the last year or so. I edit a large amount of stand-up comedy audio. Some t...

Re: MIDI / SYSex programming guides / info?

What's the model of keyboard? There's frequently a MIDI implementation chart as an appendix, which should include the sysex details. With a sniffer like MIDI Ox, you might be able to decipher them youself. Watch the hex codes, and see what changes. All good thoughts! Yep: I'm sitting here with the ...

Re: MIDI / SYSex programming guides / info?

. Also, make sure your MIDI input filter allows Sysex through. I think it is blocked by default. Oh yeah... good point, but that’s covered too. I have that off, and actually... the Roland sends a SysEx command to Logic every couple of seconds.. Whenever I track MIDI from the Roland, I have those an...

Re: MIDI / SYSex programming guides / info?

Thanks Nick! Yep... that’s been on since day one on my rig. I’m just really looking for guides on the nitty Gritty of hoe the SysEx string works, so that I’m not just typing thing in by rote, and hoping they work. I want to “better understand what’s going on“ as much as I want to “be able to pick wh...

MIDI / SYSex programming guides / info?

Hi! I've been doing basic (and maybe not so basic) MIDI sequencing in my recording work since the mid-90's... but I've never gotten really advanced in the ways of controlling my external devices via SysEx commands. I've used SysEx dumps to back-up my presets / recall them... but what I'm really inte...
