RIP: “Music Notes” — any other iOS apps that compare?

Some time ago, Apple sunsetted their own “Music Notes” app for iPhone/ipad. It was maybe the handiest music tool outside of my DAW. It was a nearly instant recorder app, and it had some fundamental chord/note detection built in. So you could open it up / hit record / and go. Then you could view the ...

Re: Tracking bands without a console is a PITA!

I have a Scarlet 18i/20 and it’s a great interface but I used to use RME stuff and the routing on the scarlet is either terribly implemented or I am an idiot. Either one could easily be true. This might not be the most helpful post here — but just to make sure we get you feeling less gas-lit by you...

Re: Drum OH's, only

Awesome! Looking forward to checking that out. Also jumping on the “two ribbons” bandwagon, I’ve really gotten some super interesting results with a pair of beyerdynamic m160 ribbons. Sometimes putting them at just about the top Tom-rim height, in a downcast angle, as if they’re “ashamed to look the...

Anyone else going to TapeCamp in April?

I've always been curious about this, as I follow Welcome to 1979's instagram feed, and I've wanted to do it for years... I just signed up for the Sat → Monday Tape Camp in April this year. Have any of you been before? / Any recommendations to make it a great trip? Are any of you also going? / wanna ...

Re: Private messaging not working?

Ah! Yep… that helps; I just wasn’t familiar with it because I’ve sent like 4 PMs ever.

Re: Wilco cover band?

Hi Alex, I saw a "delete message" from you. If it's nothing... then ok, if not, feel free to reply here. Cheers It was a test, I pm’d Ampguy, but it just showed as part of my “outbox”, didn’t seem to be in my sent box, so I tested it with you and it did the same thing, so I deleted it. The fact tha...

Private messaging not working?

I just tried to send a PM to another user, and it’s sitting in the outbox of my account (not the “sent” box).

I can’t seem to find anyway to get it to be in sent.

Am I missing something obvious, or is there a problem with the PM system?

Re: Wilco cover band?

Hi Ampguy! I’m not sure why, but I wrote a PM, though it won’t leave my outbox on the TOMB, so I’m guessing you haven’t seen it. I don’t PM in here much, so I’m not sure why it’s not working or how to fix that. In the interest of time, Feel free to PM me and I’ll reply with the info I was trying to ...

I have recorded 5 Wilco covers so far in GarageBand. If you can tell me how to swap tracks, perhaps we could collaborate.
Which 5 songs did you record? I just PM'd you my email and a quick article that explains how you can easily send a GarageBand session to me via Email.

Re: Wilco cover band?

Maybe point me in a direction you like. I imagine they've been around a while. I’m not the OP, but if they’re on the same page as me, Wilco-wise, I’d tell you to start with Yankee Hotel Foxtrot, and then move on to A Ghost is Born, and Sky Blue Sky. Wilco does have a shit-ton of material out there,...

Re: Latest gear you've acquired.....

My friends and I play a rag-tag live show every year or so... and we got tired of ganging-together 2 small mixers with a powered pa-head/mixer, so I went ahead and bought a used Mackie Onyx 1640 mixer... and damn! this is maybe the quietest mixer I've ever used. And the flexibility of the aux routin...

Re: Some space saver stuff for the studio

That looks great man!! I'm a big fan of consolidating space... my home studios have often had a "submarine-living" feel. The roughneck tubs as "cable stables" is a really nice touch.

SDCs for Choir & Orchestra & Audience recordings (sennheiser 80xx)

Hey there! I'm thinking about some upcoming remote recording projects that I might land next year, and I've been trying to travel lighter. Instead of lugging a pair of LDCs (AT4050s or Modified Rode NT2s) and the heavier-duty stands to mount them up high... I'm wondering about buying a pair of the s...
