Re: Mackie HR824 Alternatives
I had the Mackies for a few years with the same experience as you.I could do good work on them but it was like pulling teeth. I went for the passive Dynaudios Bm6s and they are much easier to work with in my room.I don't have to guess at the low end as much and the overall mids seem less cloudy/cong...

Hey Brian,
Tell us more about the Pll.
I'm really close to pulling the trigger on one of these.I talked to some helpful folks at Maindrag but would love to how you are using the Pll and what kind of of noises it can make.

Re: Replacement pickups for japanese Fender Jaguar ?
I have used the SD Jag pups.I think I went with Quarter Pounders. It was a worthwhile upgrade, added some punchiness and tone...I've never been a big fan of the Jag pups but love the neck and overall feel of a Jag.
The Seymour Duncans are pretty reasonable
.I think about $50 a pickup.

Re: CDR to send to mastering lab?
Mmmmm, Seems kinda strange to me as well. I thought any reputable mastering place would have a Masterlink in 2004. Aren't the Masterlinks like $700-800 new? I always send CD24 files to my Mastering guy. Hell that's the main reason I bought the Masterlink. I would think Most(all?) Mastering engineers...

Re: money matters
Geez, That is ridiculous. It sure as shit seems they oughta be able to come up with $200. I sense that the money is not as important as the way you've been dealt with. Maybe they could pay like $50 bucks a month and be done with it. If they still try and backout I would make it clear that you will sp...

Re: wow, the new interpol album is complete shit.
Hmmm, I kinda blew them off as too hyped when Bright lights came out.But I picked it up a few weeks ago and have been digging it.The production is pretty cool but it does get a bit redundant. I kinda like the new one as well..it took a couple of listens but it's growing on me. I mean it's not a mast...

Re: Recording a baritone guitar
I've recorded several. Usually just mic like you would Gtr. Try a few mics and see what sounds best. To my ears a Baritone sounds great thru a Fender style amp with some reverb and tremelo. The real key will likely be in the arrangement. The Baritone works well for specific parts and hooks,it can als...

Re: Mastering?
Think of mastering as the last step before replication. The last chance to tweak the 2 mix before it goes off. You've hit on the main points...fades,sequence of songs, overall level etc but also levels between songs and Eq adjustments usually on a song by song basis. A good Mastering job will tend to...

Re: So it definitely looks cool with the VU meters.....
It's worth $229.
That's for sure.
I used mine this weekend for the first time.Sounded great on Kick and also made it's way onto a few snare tracks.
It's probably not the most versatile compressor but it does have a sound.
