i find the josephsons quite bright. they dont usually work as drum overheads for me. I would say they are probably a bit brighterr than the oktavas but i havent simultaneously A/Bed them just going on recollection of usage of the oktavas. the josephsons are just on the edge of 'harsh' though; they c...

Amen. O and O is a great album but man the Zombies had a 3 or 4 year run leading up to that album that was hard to match...a bunch of great singles and maybe even better B sides. Hunt down the Zombies Heaven box set. 4 cd's of just about everything they recorded including some live BBc stuff and a s...

I tried the Earvana nut a few years ago. It was easy to install and did seem to help with intonation but I wasn't real happy with the tone-seemed to rob some of the life/sparkle from the tone and eventually took it off. This was a few years ago and it was made of some hardened plastic. The new ones ...

Yamaha s80.
It's discontinued but you can find a used around $700-800.Great Rhodes,Wurli's,good Organs,Strings,etc.

Much better Piano than the Nord.

Weighted keys if that matters to you.

The S90 has better Piano sounds but twice the price.

It sounds like you got the right attitude and are considering all the options...plus the price(free)is right.
Go for it.
Hell I might take a band and hang out and do some recording.

The thought is that ofcourse almost everybody has their own gear, but they might not have the space to set everything up for a week or two at a time. We have beds, a kitchen, bar, pool and a place to get away and focus, and because the property is already paid for, I don't have to charge a ton. I a...

Yeah they started out in Memphis I think 1988.The first album("Me and Elvis" was the single) got a bit of major label push but didn't really sell and they broke up a few years later.
I do think most of the band may live in Nasville now.I think Kye Kennedy(Guitarist) is a Amp guru now.

There's this guy named Ross Rice who used to be in a band in Nashville called Human Radio. Really cool power-pop kind of stuff. Anyway, he put out a solo album, which I just heard. It's really good. More Owsley-sounding and straight-up rocking than the Human Radio stuff. I also just heard a bunch o...

I found an Acetone organ for around $300.
It's heavish but portable...think Yo la Tengo.
