airy pad or punchy arpeggio? searing mono synth leads? squelchy? subtle? hard to help without knowing more... Fair enough. More info- it's being used for pads and fx sounds. The K5000s is not sample based- it's an additive synth. It has a detailed sound with a lot of dynamic range and movement but ...

Fav budget comps for synths?

What do you guys like to use for mixing synths, particularly digital ones? I'm having trouble fitting a k5000s into a mix with analog drums and whatnot - it just kind of gets overwhelmed. Currently recording 100% digitally so perhaps a color compressor could help.

A friend of mine had that problem, and it turned out to be a physical problem with the button on the front of the unit. The plunger was sticking and not reaching the contact on the circuit board.

Congratulations on your new ad rate policy

More transparency, better for small advertisers...this is full of win.

I had no idea that buying print advertising was like buying shit at Guitar Center.

Maybe instead of tacking on a fee to the media, like they did in the vhs/ cassette/ blank cd days, they should tack on a small fee to phones/laptops/drives to create a money pool for content creators? I should have to pay extra for a laptop because somebody else pirates music? Bullshit. It's not my...

Buying used CDs is not illegal. At one point, IIRC, the industry was trying to make selling used CDs illegal. Sueing the Warehouse chain, I think. I'm having trouble googling that though so I could be wrong. More recently the labels mooted the idea of pushing for federal law to mandate royalities o...

Actually I bought an ipod so I wouldn't have to have a huge box of CDs in the car anymore. I bought all those CDs - used. I guess I'm a criminal too?

God help my wallet. I've been bitten by the modular bug.

I avoided modular synthesizers for years. Too much money, too much space...and for one note at a time? Clearly that was a road only the wealthy and/or obsessed could travel. But I have been seduced, perhaps possessed, by the wallet savaging ways of discrete electronics and voltage control. Pity me.....

I don't think that anyone here, other than maybe Jeff, will argue the whole "major labels suck/the internet has been great for indie bands" point. We ALL agree with that. I just think that those things aren't really relevant to whether or not it's "right" to download records illegally. Nobody is su...
