1940s RCA amp

I came across an old RCA film projector and pulled this little tube amp out. It appears to be about 20 watts. The question is what shall I use it for? What is the feasibility of converting it into a mic pre? http://www.ravenousrecords.org/RCA%20amp.jpg http://www.ravenousrecords.org/RCA%20guts.jpg J

Roscoe- If you don't mind me asking, what are your thought on the Apollo after using it for a while?

Thanks,

I just pulled my old 38 out of the closet. Pinch roller has gone gooey. Where did you find one? Saw one on the Bay for $75. Seems a tad steep...

God Only Knows

Just found this on youtube today.
Did a search and didn't see it posted here.
Various takes of this tune at Western with Brian calling orders from the helm.
It's a great listen and decent video!

Standup bass pickups are okay for live situations, but not for recording imho. Get you mics out and play around. I do a ton of rockabilly and western swing with standup bass, usually gut strings. Ribbon mics work down near the bridge best for me. Sometimes I will also use a condenser up near the sho...

I started taping music off the radio on a portable cassette player when I was eight. The first song i "stole" was Fox on the Run, but I missed the first verse cause i had to put the tape in and then set the player in front of the speakers.(I was already thinking about mic placement) Throughout my te...

Love the sump pump! This reminds me of a session I did where we were using the kitchen for one of the acoustic. The damn fridge kept kicking on. So I found, labeled, and flipped off the breaker. Just had to remember to turn it on. Of course, this could have much more serious consequences when floodi...
