Thanks Brian, Nothing solid yet. Yesterday we had a Pawn shop call a thon at Otherlands. There must have been 50-60 people show up and we called every pawn shop in the area. Evidently they keep everything in the back room for 30 days by law and the cops check them regularly, but we're trying to help...

From Memphis TN

My good friend and client, Rob Jungklas, had his home broken into this Friday in Memphis TN. They went right for his amps and guitars and stole everything. I will make a more complete list soon, but among his prize posessions were these items. Any tips would be appreciated. Three H-44 Stratotones - ...

I put a guy on my wooden staircase at my house, and put a big ol flappy marching drum at the bottom of the staircase and used one mic pulled back far enough to catch the low resonance of the drum and the stomp of the foot. it worked great for that situation.

no Jody isn't an engineer, but he is the studio manager for Ardent Studios. I did coproduce a record with him once on a band from Kansas called Truck Stop Love in 93 or 94. We also coproduced a track with Ryan Adams and Whiskeytown for the Big Star tribute record that never came out.

Big Star

sorry for the delayed response, I was in the studio for the last few days doing the 12 hour day thing. The Compressor is called an ADR. I believe it's English, and it stands for Audio Design Research. I can find out for sure. I've never seen or heard another one like it. I don't know if it's broken,...

Big Star

I've done some work with Big Star. I coproduced, recorded and mixed the new Big Star record, "In Space". I worked at Ardent as a staff engineer for years, and got to hear some amazing tales of what went on back in the day. I think you are talking about the classic recordings that John Fry made as fa...

recording a college pep band

any tips or suggestions? approximately 50 pieces. I was thinking of using a decca tree above and behind the conductor, and maybe a large diaphragm mic on the different sections 7 or 8 feet up.

Re: transferring from analog tape to protools

Thanks for the replys. I've been doing this long enough now that I should know, if you think you are hearing something that's not right, you are hearing something that's not right. I'm going to retransfer and compare. thanks again.[/u]

transferring from analog tape to protools

I would love to know how most of you transfer from analog tape into protools. I have done it two different ways. 1. I locked protools to the smpte code on the tape using the protools synchronizer while transferring. 2. I transferred to protools straight in without locking including the smpte code on...
