Just a few notes to add...
1. works best with a bass amp
2. with the mic insert hole fully sealed (epoxy putty) and mic secured in place, it sounds much better and there's less feedback. I'm very happy with the sound I'm getting now.
3. works better without the foam pop filter on the mic

Re: do that udu that you do so well
I need to do the internal mic thing, because I'm not the FOH guy, I'm the musician. And right now it's just open mic stuff, where there's no time for setup. Also it's for looping, so I'm converting to high Z and going into a pedal. The main problem now is feedback. I don't know if there's a way to f...

do that udu that you do so well
Was thinking about doing udu loops live to play on top of, and tried an electret I had on hand with a tapeop omni type 9v power circuit I made ages ago and it wasn't good, so I went looking for lavalier electrets that might work better, and got this pair: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CV196ZCZ?ref=ppx...

rotating speaker alternative
Just had this thought. I'm sure this has been done, but I'm not aware of it... instead of using an expensive rotating speaker or a pedal emulation, you could get the same effect with a stationary speaker and a wireless mic. The wireless mic can be rotated by a motor in front of the speaker. Einstein...

Re: Latest gear you've acquired.....
I don't expect Shure preamps would sound bad . The preamps don't sound bad, they're just limited in gain range. As in, there's not actually a proper gain knob, just that front panel mix knob. There's a little switch almost hidden behind the Phoenix mic input that lets you choose line, mic, mic w/ p...

Re: Latest gear you've acquired.....
Just picked up a few of these, off Craigslist, they look brand new: Shure SCM 810 8-Channel Automixer https://www.shure.com/en-US/products/mixers/scm810 The market for those dried up when much better sounding automixing (Dan Dugan and the various clones since his patents expired) became ubiquitous ...

Re: Latest gear you've acquired.....
Just picked up a few of these, off Craigslist, they look brand new: Shure SCM 810 8-Channel Automixer https://www.shure.com/en-US/products/mixers/scm810 It's meant for conferencing... you can plug up to 8 mics into it, and it uses a compander/limiter and gates to auto adjust the levels. The guy was ...

This is a good one, too, and his tone is pretty similar to the first guy: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fcyjzha6Fbg

Re: can anyone identify this amp?
This guy's bezanjo is also the shezizzle: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NO6XMOA2HRo The playing is also great, but it doesn't have the killer tone Noor Baksh's has... sounds more straight acoustic, though it looks like there's a cord coming out going somewhere. Sure is a sausage party at that perf...

Re: can anyone identify this amp?
Just took my old bulbul tarang off the shelf and blew the dust off the case... it actually has more range than I remembered... one note shy of two octaves. And it does have working sharps/flats; I was misremembering, thinking it only had working white keys. So that should scratch the instrument itch...

Re: can anyone identify this amp?
Yeah, I noticed the car battery. I'd imagine the amp is pretty similar to a Pignose, but with its own mojo. And it definitely has mojo! Very tubey sound, regardless of the actual circuit. The Japanese Taishōgotos are pretty affordable but don't have as many keys as the Indian bulbul tarangs, like wh...

Re: can anyone identify this amp?
I think right below the red light on the top left is the brand name, but it never seems to be close and in focus enough to read. I know what you mean about Paint it Black... I listen to TONS of Indian music and don't get those associations with it, but I guess because this is an electric instrument ...

It's from a performance in Pakistan of a guy from Balochistan: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sMEimuN6s4M
