Just a few notes to add...
1. works best with a bass amp
2. with the mic insert hole fully sealed (epoxy putty) and mic secured in place, it sounds much better and there's less feedback. I'm very happy with the sound I'm getting now.
3. works better without the foam pop filter on the mic

Just took my old bulbul tarang off the shelf and blew the dust off the case... it actually has more range than I remembered... one note shy of two octaves. And it does have working sharps/flats; I was misremembering, thinking it only had working white keys. So that should scratch the instrument itch...
