Re: Mics: characteristics: electrets vs. small diaphragm
Just found out that the AT 3525 is actually an electret, so i guess they do make large (or at least medium) diameter electrets. The thing is, they don't call it an electret. They call it a fixed-charge back plate permanently polarized condenser . I'd bet they're not the only ones to use this termino...

Hey, this is OT, but do you have access to cacti like the one in your picture? I used to have a bunch but most died after i moved to NY. I only have one left, it's small and has been growing very slowly even though it's grafted. There are seeds available on ebay but I'd rather not do it that way.

Re: some funny, funny shat
Wait, so "Kings of Rock" is a bowling league? I'm confused.
They kill old ladies with hard-core bowling balls? That's horrible.
You, sir, are a menace to society.

Re: STUPIDEST BAND NAME YOU'VE EVER HEARD?
And in Seattle, a guy called "Skerik" (scary eric) had a band called "colon sucking fuck pig".
they may have only done a show or two under that name, but it was memorable. He also played with "crack sabbath" and "blowtallica".

The drummer I used to play with was actually in a band called "Gentleman Jim and the Acid Dropping Cum Guzzling Faggots".

mic mods for dynamics?
Anyone ever modified a dynamic mic? I've been thinking about removing the magnet from a cheap mic and replacing it with a neodymium of the same size. Anyone tried this before? Or something else that's interesting?

Re: mic analysis
Samplitude kicks ass. I've tried other software, but always go back to Samplitude.
White or pink?
If you wanted to send a mic somewhere to get a full professional analysis, where would you send it? Let's assume this is a DIY mic, so you can't send it to the manufacturer, it's already there.

Re: pacific pro audio mics
Ok, so this is an old thread, but I've been thinking about getting the LD 2ube, so thought I'd stir it back up. I have a LD-1 and like it a lot. It's the only LD condenser I've got, so can't really compare it much. Sounds better than my sm57 on most things though. Sorry that was lame. Anyone else ha...

"You know, I thought he did a really good job of handling 9/11." Where do you live? I was living on Canal Street on 9/11, 3/4 of a mile from the WTC. I could see the whole thing from my window, and was scared shitless there'd be some suitcase nuke that could go off any moment and I'd be dead. My tv ...

Re: the mic in all the videos
I've got a 674. Haven't found the application that best suits it yet. Anyone else got one of these? What do you like it on?
I've seen video of Morrisson singing through a chrome electrovoice mic, 636 or something.

mic analysis
If you made a DIY mic or found an unknown mic and wanted to draw a frequency response curve, how would you do it? Is there software available for this? Would you send white or pink noise through "flat" speakers, record it and run it through FFT or something like that? Anyone done this?
