Here's a clip with the back door open. Makes a huge difference, I think:

the return of the ubertar ribbon mic
Rather than add to that ancient and mammoth thread, I'll just reference it here: https://messageboard.tapeop.com/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=66614&hilit=ubertar+AND+ribbon#p567389 Someone was looking for ribbon mic motors and found me, even though it's been some years since I've made them. I'd been thinkin...

Re: gadgetlabs wavepro drivers for Windows 10???
I had a hellish time trying to get Windows 10 to chill out about the unsigned drivers. Test mode worked for installing, but every time I'd reboot it would complain about verification. Even putting it in permanent test mode didn't work. Finally the only thing that worked was installing a program writ...

Re: gadgetlabs wavepro drivers for Windows 10???
They went out of business around 2000, so I'm surprised there's a website at all. A core group of people liked these enough that they kept writing drivers for new operating systems well after that. The most recent I was able to find says it's for "Windows 7 and up" but it looks like it came out just...

gadgetlabs wavepro drivers for Windows 10???
I've finally decided to join the 21st century (in part) by getting a Win 10 computer. I've been on XP since the late 20th C. I'd like to bring my gadgetlabs cards along for the ride. For a long time there was a group of people, mainly a guy called "Mostek" who wrote new drivers for each new operatin...

Re: tube amp debugging (jet city 20 watt combo)
If you can pull the board out to re-flow solder joints, that's going to be my guess. Seems to be the leading cause these days. You win! I did that and now it's working. Oddly, I couldn't find a fuse on it, anywhere. Or the little holder where one would clip in. Very psyched to get this working so q...

Re: tube amp debugging (jet city 20 watt combo)
Don't chase anything else until you get filament voltage to make tubes light up. That is possibly the only problem. How do I do that? I've checked the voltages on the power transformer's outputs, and they're all correct. I don't know what to do next. Unfortunately the way this amp is put together i...

Re: tube amp debugging (jet city 20 watt combo)
The guy I got it from said he replaced the fuse and that didn't fix it. I haven't checked the filter caps yet... that's one of the first places I'd look if this was a vintage amp, but being relatively new with modern components I wouldn't expect them to go bad, but it's possible. Would that cause th...

Re: tube amp debugging (jet city 20 watt combo)
Apparently those schematics aren't very good, and this amp is very similar, with a few component changes, and this is said to be a good schematic: https://music-electronics-forum.com/att ... 1452329663

tube amp debugging (jet city 20 watt combo)
Just picked up a non-working Jet city combo amp, and I'm hoping to get it running... Here's what I know so far: 1. When turned on, the tubes don't light up. The indicator doesn't light either, but the guy said it never did. 2. I checked all the tubes (5x 12ax7; 2x EL84) by putting them in other amps...

Just scored a few records at the local antique/junk shop. Nothing super exciting, but it's not too often you find jazz records for a couple bucks a piece in good shape... Ellington, Ahmad Jamal, Gillespie, Bessie Smith, Gene Ammons, and a record by a group I'd never heard of-- the Dramatics, which I...

Re: What musical thang didja work on today/night?
Wasn't last night, but Friday night... performed with the UMBC gamelan. I played saron, slentem, ketuk (Javanese) and cheng cheng (Balinese), depending on the piece. The last time I did gamelan was nearly 20 years ago. My wife saw the notice for the performance a little over a month ago, and at firs...

I don't know if anyone here has listened to "outside the zoo" yet, but I just replaced it with a re-edited version. It's now distilled down to 4 minutes instead of the original 8.
