Re: Recommend me a wild delay pedal

Try the Danelectro Wasabi Forward-Reverse delay if you can. I haven't pushed it into oscillation, so I don't know about that side of it, but the tone is fantastic. I used to have a Boss DM2 and that was great, but the Wasabi actually improves the tone of the guitar. It's also the best reverse delay ...

Re: Latest gear you've acquired.....

Woah, some story! Scary shite! Because yer daughter was there, we know it wasn't :high: around the high-test. Out of curiosity, how (in what manner) is the ins company valuing the damage? Replacement cost, which is good, b/c I didn't spend nearly as much as what these things were worth. The 57 Cham...

Re: Latest gear you've acquired.....

Lost a ton of stuff when my car burned up during a recent move. Not least of which was my 1957 Fender Champ. A bunch of guitars, a crate full of effects pedals, a clavichord, 88-key digital piano, tenor sax and flute, among other stuff. I wish I hadn't done such a good job packing the car. My daught...

AKG D190E one or a pair

working, nice shape, AKG D190E mics. Supposedly the improved version of the fabled D19.
At any rate, a nice change of pace on anything you'd stick a 57 on.

one mic: 70
pair: 130
plus actual shipping (probably about $6 if you're in the US)

tell me about Baltimore/Annapolis area/scene

Possibly moving to Maryland... curious as to what it's like there. Is there much of an experimental/unusual music scene? I would expect so from a town that spawned John Waters. Fill me in.

Re: RIP John Abercrombie

Gregg, what records would you recommend? I've been listening to Gateway and Timeless so far. I had Gateway on yesterday and my daughter thought it was me.
What's his best Scofield collab?

RIP John Abercrombie

I'm sure I had heard his name before, but I didn't know his music until yesterday, when I was driving in my car and turned on the radio. This incredible music was on with this amazing guitar playing. The piece was called Sorcery 1. Turns out he had just died and they were doing a tribute to him, pla...

time to bring back General Recording Yes, this. If it was up to me, there would be two forums: General Recording, and Off-topic. The people (including me) who caused trouble in off-topic back in the day are all old and (somewhat) respectable now... even the offshoot forum that got started when off-...

Cool. Thanks for doing the work and keeping the board going!
Right now the megaboard option is no longer available... will that be coming back?
This is kinda nitpicky, but I'm not a fan of the beige.

I don't think there is a simple equation for this... it's going to vary by impedance. I think your best bet is to do it empirically; put a pot in there temporarily, get it set how you like it, take it out and measure it. Replace with a resistor. A trimpot isn't much bigger than a resistor... you cou...

Why not use a pot (or trim pot) instead of a fixed resistor, then dial in what sounds best? You could treat Z as R to figure the mid-point of the pot (pot value = 2R) and tweak from there.

Patent Pending!

Filed a non-provisional, utility patent today for a hum-canceling TRUE single-coil pickup! No second coil involved in any way. :P :D :P

Most of those older mics with switches have slide on/off switches, not momentary pushbuttons. Why not make a small box with XLR ins/outs and a momentary pushbutton? Then you can run any mic you want with a short cable in and a long cable out.
