Re: Does anyone record mulitple Bass guitar tracks?
Here 'tiz. Two signals at once.... Bass  signal spliter (ex. boss chorus with or without the effect, preferably without - or a more expensive rack mount unit that would be class A, have multiple outputs, and phase inversion. Like the one reviewed in Tape Op a while back). one siganll ...

Re: Why do my masterlink mixes suck?
Well' its saturday. I did a couple mixes and they sound like they should. I used the focusrite and it seemed to have provided a ballanced throughput. But the gods are against me after all. I just was mixing at 16 bit with the ML's converters to compare the two and the son-of-a-bitch took a shit on m...

Re: Why do my masterlink mixes suck?
Well jeez. Thanks for all the feedback, ya'lls great! I guess I should've thought of these things earlier. I will try printing at 24/44.1, 24/88.2. I will report back. I'll try different word lengths later. I also have a Focusrite ISA 220 with the converter card. But its 2 channels with only one pre...

Why do my masterlink mixes suck?
My mixes in the control room sound sweet. After recording them to the ML and rendering/burning, the mixes lose all their life/demention. I'm running PT LE through a mackey deck and outboard comps to the ML @24/96. The playback from the master links HD to my monitors sounds like the mix I just record...

what data recovery program will save my ass?
I just deleted all the drum tracks for an entire session. As it turns out they were saved to a file that I thought was old and not important. so I "perminently deleted" (not in the recycle bin) it and it took all of my drum tracks for my current session with it. I'm running protools on Xp. I did a "...

Re: why mic the damn hi hats?
To say that flipping phase buttons is an archaic practice, that is a little misleading for people who never flipped a phase button in their life, and listened to the results! I admit impatience with typing that. I certainly made an assumption about the level of knowledge. My apologies. Thanks guys ...

Re: Grace Design 101 Pre
The 101 was my first "good" pre. There was a big differance from all the cheapy pres that i was using. There was a sweet review of it in some tape op over a year ago, maybe somebody knows which one. Yeah, for 500 smackers you probly can't get a better pre(except I think Summit makes a good $500 pre)...

Re: bass cab mics
last session, Digi. First I layed the bass direct through an Avalon U5 on tone setting #2 which is a scooped setting, and that was pretty fat. Then i ran the signal out of the 001 to a x over (Behrenger has them for cheap). Sending the high signal out at a 350HZ crossover setting to one of two guita...

describe the sound of these mics!!
Hey, I've read alot of improv mic descriptions on the forum. Lets see what everyone says about these every day mics and how they sound on a nicely driven jcm 100.

Re: why mic the damn hi hats?
I use a mic on the hi-hat usually to give it alittle more sizzle. My drummer has shitty hi-hats, but he's gonna replace them in week, so maybe I won't need it then. I just like the control over tone. Why mic a shity part of th kit. And when your drummer finaly replaces that with something g...

Wow, great response guys. But nobody has answered about reversing the phase (vs. the OHs) of a recorded hat to tame it. Has anybody done this?

Re: why mic the damn hi hats?
Part of the problem is when drummers go "TSH tsh tsh tsh TSH tsh tsh tsh" to keep time, etc - used effectively, a hi hat is an instrument. After a lengthy argument a drummer and I once went over like 10 recordings to solve the debate about whether constant 8th notes on the hi hat was a good/normal ...

why mic the damn hi hats?
I've seen it done in magazines. Is this done to later reverse the phase durring mixing and thus cancel/control the hats? Should i try this at home or is it too dangerous . Any hints/tips people?
