i read an interview where Britt Daniel said the best bass sound he's ever been able to get is playing through a fender twin with an sm58 on it. On "The Way We Get By" they used a metal pick and I think he said they compressed it twice. i don't know much about the recording of the new record, but the...

I had no preamps, equalizers, compressors or anything else that people usually have, but that would have been really nice. the signal path was Mic-------Mixing B...

Re: Wilco Show: Ok, I like them again ...

My friend jeannine and i went to the columbus show too. We were towards the back under the balcony The seats were good though. My only complaint is that I couldn't hear the guitars all that well. The wexner usually has great sound, but it seemed a little muddy that night. Oh well. I was really excit...

Re: Just Some Tom Waits stuff

Me and tony and some pals have a band that only exists in the studio (for now) called "the book of knots." One of the songs on our new record has Tom Waits singing on it, and I prepared the masters to ship to him today, actually. I am just glad he is going to be on our new record, which also featur...

Re: Good cello music?

This is a shameless plug, but my friend Jeannine and I did a whole record of cello and viola and it's all instrumental. If you want one, PM me your address and i'll send you a copy for free.

Re: ex-girlfriends' band rocks. fuck!!!

heh. I have sort of the reverse problem. My gf doesn't play any instruments (I've tried to teach her guitar and bass at different points but she doesn't stick with it) and I think it puts a strain on us because I play a bunch instruments and I'm in a couple bands and put out records and all that dr...

Re: when do YOU bottom-mic a snare?

I usually bottom-mic my snare when I want it to be real bright and kinda glassy.
