Re: MOTU 2408, New Mac G4, just won't work, I'm going crazy
THanks for the help. It's a dual 867 mhz. 60g hard drive. I'm also using a Glyph firewire 80g drive, but that is probably irrelevant. The computer is about 9 months old, and ran fine up until about 1 month ago. It is coming down to the wire cuz I am getting really close to bringing it to the Apple s...

Re: MOTU 2408, New Mac G4, just won't work, I'm going crazy
Actually,I'm thinking it's a hardware problem. TEch support has been not much help at all. I've ruled out the 2408. When I just used Mac AV and bypassed the 2408, the same problem happens. Also, I went to burn a cd in itunes, and it ran very slowly, then eventually crashed. I think it is a disk driv...

MOTU 2408, New Mac G4, just won't work, I'm going crazy
I have a dual processor G4, about 6 months old, and MOTU 2408 MKII, also about 6 months old. Despite heavy tech support, my whole system just stopped running and I could not get it working right for like a month now. I just keep getting ASIO driver or disk too slow errors when I try to run tracks in...

Re: Audio card prefs for Logic on a Mac
I have used the MOTU 2408 Mk. II for quite a while and it works great. I added a rack of Apogee AD16, and it all works together fine. And that's on OS9.
Years ago I made the switch from Cubase to Logic also, and since then Logic has been my favorite software of all time.

Re: exceptionally clear high resolution monitros?
That's the thing, I'm not sure how to go about trying out monitors of this level, cuz it's not like your local guitarmonkey store carries them. Do those Blue Sky's have ribbon tweeters? How much are they? Are they powered? I've heard nothing but good things about the Questeds, and I was also thinkin...

Re: build spring reverb schematics/plans- wanted
I wasn't gonna put an eq on it, but I did want to put a resonant hi/low pass filter on the output. I've never done a tube circuit, but it does seem easier in some ways. Maybe I'll start with a basic one, a real basic line driver. I wish there was someplace to get really detailed plans on something l...

Re: build spring reverb schematics/plans- wanted
Yeah, that's what I'm doing, pretty much piecing stuff together from other schematics. This may sound insane, well I guess it is, but I want to make a stereo tube unit with Jensen transformers, with 3 seperate spring units - small, medium, large, the ability to switch to either one or run them toget...

build spring reverb schematics/plans- wanted
I want to build my own spring reverb, one with discrete electronics. All of the plans I have are for guitar type things, use TL074's, and although it may seem excessive for a spring unit, I want to try discrete. I want to build something more like the AKG BX style, like a big thing to keep in the st...

Re: MP3s-Are they changing the way we hear???
I'm sure this will make me no friends here, but I think the idea of 'musicians' offering their music direct to the public through the internet is fucking horrible. I think there is something to be said for the filtering effect of record labels. Believe me, I grew up with punk rock, post-punk, indie ...

Re: MP3s-Are they changing the way we hear???
For those of us that grew up on vinyl, the advent of MP3's as an acceptable format for mass distribution to the public is scary. CD's were released a decade before they even verged on sounding acceptable, but from the beginning people were duped by the industry spreading the word that cd's blew away...

SA monitors, any info?
The studio I work at has a pair of SA monitors as their main monitors. They are the most incredible sounding monitors I have ever heard in my life. I was looking on their website for info., cuz I want to check out their near/midfields for my home studio. I can't seem to find any info. on the web, no...

Re: Quested Monitors
I posted about this the other day, but that is the price range I am looking to spend soon on monitors. The studio I work at in New York has these SA monitors that have ruined me at home with my collection of nearfields. It's just so easy to mix, to eq, to balance stuff. Listening out of ns-10'ish ne...

exceptionally clear high resolution monitros?
Greetings, I've spent the last month in the studio finishing my album, and the studio I work out of in NY has these SA monitors that I think have ruined me. OF course they cost $14k for the pair, but they are so clear and distortion free, while being non-hyped, that mixing on them is pure pleasure. ...
