My experience with fuses is that they alter the sou...

After seeing the NS-10m's tweeters fry out on more than one occasion, I want to make sure that I do not send too much power to them. I notice that the ratings for each of the Adcoms are much different: 535 (60 watt per channel), 545 (100 watts into 8 ohms, 150 watts into 4 ohms), and 555 (200 Watts...

The Adcom GFA 535, 545 or 555 would all make EXCELLENT choices and are quite affordable.

I think you've done a great job here. A couple of things that could really help make an impression, to me, would be: The snare tone: In the verse, especially, its a bit "boinky." I'd find the boink and notch it out. The snare could also use some automation so that its not poking out so much in the q...

I sold my wonderful sounding JH-16 a while back, just before the market really dropped out. I sat there and realized that most people were asking for an HD rig (I didn't have one yet) and almost no one was asking for tape anymore. I figured if I hung on to the MCI any longer, the value would just go...

My prediction is that it'd take at LEAST 5x the asking price to make this thing 100% operational... no thanks!

You'd make more $$$ buying it and parting it out! Heck, I might even do that! 8)

mixing compared to C++ programming, economics, bio-engineering, chemistry? Aren't a mixing engineer and a nuclear engineer two incredibly different fields with two incredibly different skill levels/knowledge? There's a huge difference... mixing is not that hard compared to many other tasks in this ...

I hate to be negative, but you have to look at things in context. The reality is when it comes to recording, its just not that hard really. What I mean is with some basic education and a little bit of first hand experience, just about anyone can do a decent job of capturing sounds. I see this all th...

Everyone, thank you so much for you suggestions. I've been using a crappy radio shack mic through a small amp with a good tube overdrive aux out in to my DAW. However, I'm still trying to find a good plugin, so I have the option of adjusting gain, level, etc. later as I mix. I'm going to track down...

You can easily do a pre/post send switch on the fly. I've been wanting to be able to do this for a while!! How do you do it, I've searched a lot about it and found nothing...[/quote Just click the send you want, and in the floating window that opens there is a "pre" button that you can click that w...

dokushoka, Your post just made me wish Protools had monitor faders in their virtual channel strips (mix window) like the more expensive consoles do... rather than having to click open the 'sends' pop-up windows on each channel. I'd like that better. Maybe that'll come along in v.10 I always thought...

In addition to all the great posts so far, on larger consoles the busses are typically more fully featured and can be used for a few more things. In many instances, while tracking, they are used to feed the multi track as a console can easily have 24 - 48 busses. This makes routing really fast while...

definitely go download the massey plugs, but i would suggest using the tape head plugin for the vocal distortion. only problem is the demo resets every time you open/close a session. you can solve that problem by buying it for really cheap. this is one of my favorite plugsins. Yeah I like Tape Head...
