FS: Digidesign 002r Interface (Austin, TX)

For sale is a Digi002r interface. 8 analog inputs, SPDIF in/out, MIDI in/out, ADAT Lightpipe (8 channels) in and out. Comes with IEC power cable and firewire cable. I got another interface and this one sits unused. I would prefer a local sale, but will consider shipping it. I'd love to see $450 for ...

I just moved to Austin with my family about a week and a half ago. I love it here. I'm doing the corporate AV thing at the Hilton downtown, but want to build up my studio contacts again. Shoot me a PM and we can grab a bite!

I would second the band Neu!. Hallogallo, the first track on their first record is a great example. The song was the exact length of my morning bicycle commute to class back in college. I would put it on in my room, ride my bike to class., and it ended as I sat down in my chair. It's a great start t...

I've been noticing when you browse through the search results, it doesn't highlight the search term anymore, although the tag to do it is still in the address. That was a pretty useful feature. I'm off to try to google trick you talked about....

Yeah, that's the same problem I had with my 002r. I didn't have the new power harness, but I exercised the connectors (pulled them on/off a dozen or so times) and it's run like a champ for a few months.

The one thing I remember about that rackmount POD was that I had to turn "mic distance" control all the way down. Seemed to me like it just added this horrible flutter-echo, "Just like the the acoustics in your crappy room!" That POD really saved a poorly time-managed project I was helping out on. I...

I'm not super-motivated to hear this, but I bet in the context of the Cirque Du Soleil show at the Mirage in Vegas, it all sounds great. I've heard very good things about the show.

I think there was a letter in an older TO issue where it said you could send the click to the Quicktime Musical Instuments MIDI and then actually use the built-in computer audio as the click output, potentially freeing up a Pro Tools output for something else.

That would be more for a live situation, or if you were recording the master out of your mixer. In a live environment, if the effect didn't sound too horrble and you didn't need to EQ it, the RCA jacks would succeed at getting the effect out the main outs/speakers, however you would have a lot less ...

When Todd Rundgren came into a studio a was working at a few years ago, I thought it was weird that his PT session faders were all at unity and he did all his ITB mixing with trim plugins inserted on every track. He's a very meticulous, technical dude, so I'm inclined to believe there's something to...

I knew an engineer who always did punches in Destructive Record mode in Pro Tools, his main motivation being that it didn't leave him with tons of oddly named regions in his audio files folder and was simpler to move all the files around becuase it just records the audio over the old material in the...

I remember emailing Geoff Daking a while back because i was going to try out some pres at a studio I was working at. I looked up the specs of the pre and couldn't find a phantom on/off switch. He mailed back and said essentially that it was always on, and that he had many reasons for it, but he didn...

I heard he bought all of Raymond Scott's old synths. I can't even imagine how much labor would be involved in getting those back up and working. Is that even something there are plans for? I would love even to just see them in a museum at some point, working or not. I'm sure Raymond Scott influenced...

What a lot of people (myself included) consider one of the defining albums of the genre (if it really is a genre) is DJ Shadow's "Endtroducing..." it just got a 10-year reissue with a bonus disc. just get it. you don't need to hear it first. Check out the forthcoming J Dilla LP "Donuts". I really li...
