I use them a lot. Mostly as starting points but often it does what I want without futzing. Maybe I'm lazy. Well, I am lazy; maybe this is another indication of it, I mean. Particularly with EQ or reverbs, unless it's a 'special effect' for a song, I tend to save anything I do in a global presets fol...

6 years later?! Awesome. Yes, go for it. I'd say, 1) try it with software only first to see if it works before spending on something like the apollo and 2) consider a dedicated VST host instead of loading a full fledged DAW. There are several free options available for both PC and Mac.

I haven't used this, but Arturia is notorious for releasing hardware with poor reliability and or software support...I personally would look elsewhere. Gotta agree though both the synths were pretty solid at launch. The interface specs out very nicely but you might want to let others be the public ...

I use a belkin 7 port powered hub. $30 or so at best buy/Amazon. No problems at all. Works with my iPad/iPhone too (with the USB adaptor)

This rumor has been floating around since the iPhone 4. Perhaps it's finally going to be true but I seriously doubt it.

You can use Audacity to create MP3s. I'm sure there are simple drag and drop utilities out there to create MP3s but I don't know any off the top of my head and it's exactly the sort of app prone to including adware/spyware. Audacity is solid (open source and useful for many other things).

You might try a similar vintage Mac and just shoving your old hard drive in it.

Or most macs that would house your drive should work, so long as your hard drive isn't the problem.

FS: Soundtracs Topaz 24*8 + Mixing desk with rack space

Hi TapeOp, Time to say goodbye to my Soundtracks Topaz 24x8 (Miami Vice version) and a rather fetching desk I built for it. Topaz is great shape. Has already had the power supply upgrade (done by none other than Steve Magalnick) and comes with the original manual with the full schematics pull outs. ...

Just came to post this. It's very fun. You can zoom in on stuff with the mouse wheel. There's a shitty same-as-the-av-club-in-high-school cart along the wall in Studio One with microphones on it that is most likely worth more than my house. What the hell is the mirrored drum room in studio 3 http://...

Scratchy Pots and Buttons on Soundtracs Topaz 24

Hi TOMB, I have a Miami Vice Topaz that has recently started getting scratchy. Like, very scratchy. On almost all knobs and buttons bring the noise on any move! Faders seem fine though. It could be dirty?I'm a slob and I don't cover my board. Plus, I smoke in the studio occasionally+a dog+a cat. But...

We were supposed to try it this past weekend but life in our 40s got in the way. Will report back when the kids go to college.

Arturia Beatstep. Good fun. @kslight I'm very much am the wanting to make love to your new synthesizer. It's pretty sweet. I'm kind of picky and have high expectations when spending that kind of money on a synth, but there is a synth I feel like one could never reach the limits of its possibilities...
