M1516 I have used. It sounded pretty good but was a bit noisy. Lots of hiss. Tone was better than the Mackie sitting next to it but it was way noisier.

I have never used the M2600 or MKII but I have heard and read good things

I love my 501. I have a later one too. Mine is dated 1999. It still sounds fantastic and I love to explode drums with it! The 501 is in my rack to stay. I guess I should try it on bass now. I've been using a Urei LA-10 on bass lately.

I have an R144 and an R40, both modded with Edcor RMX-1 transformers. Now they are really good sounding. I agree they are pretty good stock as well. Anyone that wants to mod these, check http://www.preservationsound.com/?p=3687 The R144 and R40 seem to be the same internally. The 144 has a chrome gr...

I like to record my music or for other people. My little studio is semi private now after having a commercial space around 10 years for awhile. My last project paid in moonshine so that was pretty cool. I don't know if my stuff sounds that good compared to other's with small studios, but I like the ...

I have 2 Audiofire 12s daisy chained with firewire and wordclock. The routing isn't an issue for me as I always used analog consoles with them. They sound very good too and drivers were fine......BUT....after 4 years they wouldn't turn on consistently and started having firewire glitches. Now they n...

The deoxit should help enough with that. Just exercise them and you should be OK. I think the Deoxit lubes them too but I could be wrong. it's all I ever use on my consoles.

I just picked up a MX2488. It had a bad power supply(now replaced with an Acopian) but works fine otherwise. It's a very clear sounding board and I agree the EQ is pretty good. I haven't spent enough time with it yet to say for sure, but it seems to have good headroom. Maybe it's the beefier power s...

Maybe use the 3 stereo modules for playback from PT. Probably won't work for tape unless it's just a 2 track. . I haven't looked at the manual but if there are no tape pots or switches, then likely it doesn't have dedicated tape returns. Some older consoles had a monitor section that brought the fir...

On my 8616, you remove the padded arm rest bolster. There are 2 screws in the end of the console that hold the armrest in and those need to come out. Then the arm rest comes off easily on my 8616. The modules have a screw on the front side that you remove, then pull the module up and out.

Good article. I've been using a Pro Jr for the last several years in the studio on everything. Also used to have a Tiny Terror which was very cool for good overdrive sounds and surprisingly good for clean tones as well. I sold the Orange but kept the Pro Jr.

As the owner of a Ramsa 8616, I can say that the modules between the different models are not interchangeable. Just watch eBay for spares. They come up often and aren't usually too much, maybe $35 or so at most. As far as cleaning, just your standard DeOxit and blowing out dust works great but I've ...

Lowered price bump! I'm now selling for half of what I paid just a month or two ago. Somebody has to want this. I'm sure Midas can fix the firewire if you don't mind sending it in or get them to send a new fireware board or exchange or whatever. Selling cheap! Taking offer and possible trades for an...

FS/FT Midas Venice f24

I have a Midas Venice f24 I would like to sell or possible trade for analog console. Firewire is not working. All analog functions are fine with no noisy pots or anything. Just the firewire doesn't work. It in not detected by the computer. Have tried with PCs and Macs and different cables and my oth...
