Mixing a country singer/songwriter for his next release. Also worked on some cover art and web design. Nothing too special I guess.

Re: Question, reflections, about amp biasing...
What about amps with a "Balance" control instead of bias? ie my 1971 Fender Silverface Twin. How does one deal with tube replacement on these? 4 6L6s. Mine has Groove Tubes now and the labels are fading unevenly between tubes. I think it might need to replace them even though they are only 1 year ol...

Re: FMR Audio RNC 1773
How did you set the RNC when doing this?reduce snare sound in cymbal mics
I love my RNC. It can get extreme as well as be transparent. I love it on vocals because you can't hear it at all. For effect-y compression, I usually go for my Joe Meek or dbx.

Re: Tascam TSR-8 Repair
Heads are expensive so I second that. Hold out for something that doesn't need any new heads. Even if you get it and buy a head, you will have to pay a pro to install and physically align the heads. Then you also have issues with electronic calibration on some narrow format machines that are hard to...

Re: wanting to go analog, somewhat...
I'd get a good 8 track. Old 1" 8 track like Scully, Ampex, or ?? if you can find one cheap and have space for it. If not, the Otari ?" machines were pretty good. 8 tracks will at least allow you to print drums and maybe more to tape simultaneously. The older 1" machines are really cheap now but may ...

Re: Found a great new pre/comp/limiter
Looks cool but most reviewers say it's uncolored. If that's what kind of pre/compressor you need, it looks like a great deal! I wish there were more around to try. Maybe they will get more distribution soon and become more common.

Re: Recording Guitar Amp Direct out vs. mic
I have never like the sound I get with any type of DI from an amp. PODs are a little better becasue they have speaker simulation but I still like the sound of a speaker interacting with the air better. Maybe you could use a different dynamic mic to close mic with. Try the Sennheiser MD409 or MD421 w...

Re: Dual CPU Audio Apps
I am running Nuendo 1.61 right now. I will try upgrading to 2 when I get some cash flow going. My Sound Forge 7 does seem to see both CPUs when I open it's help>about screen. It shows 2 CPUs. I am running Win2k Pro. I will keep searching. Thanks for the help.

Dual CPU Audio Apps
I run a dual PIII 1gHz system. I know it's kinda old now being a PIII and all but I like it. I was wondering what audio apps take advantage of both processors? I am running Sound Forge 7 which I know does use both CPUs. I also run Nuendo but can't seem to find out if it is using both CPUs. It seems ...

Re: MP3 creating and posting - quality or quantity?
I would say C. You like good quality or you wouldn't be on TapeOp forum. What does your label think? Do they care whether or not you post full songs? That would be the only other concern. I only say C because that's what I would do and have done in the past. I sometimes throw up links on forums to m...

Re: best. song title. ever.
In my band, we always end up with outrageous working titles. Sometimes they stick even after the lyrics are written about something competely different. "The Lonely Taco"-El Kabong (instrumental about the last taco left in the bag after night of partying) "Electric Muffin Lunch"-El Kabong (instrumen...
