Re: king records, NZ - lathe cut vinyl

i have a handful of lathe cuts made by peter king...a few of them are rock style i.e. purple ivy shadows, orange cake mix, boyracer and airiel...i would say they are more novelty than anything else. the low-end is kinda hollow sounding and the hi-end is sometimes grainy...the ones that sound the bes...

Re: Analog vs. Digital Debate: Over?

ithe most recent cd that really opened my eyes and kicked my ass was Brian Wilson's SMiLE...especially after learning it was tracked all into protools HD at 24 bit 88.2...it sounds absolutely amazing to me. of course, i also think mark linnetts api board helped....a little ;) i'm pretty much an advo...

Re: Budgeting: Real Studio vs DAW

well i am even more amused with this thread now that i have learned you are using a digi001, an mxl 990, and some behringer poop for recording...it seems that if you are going to be elitist about recording you should at the very least be using something that would impress us...i'll take the shins "o...

Re: It's a Neve - but what was it made for?

I'd like to say that just because it says NEVE doesn't mean its automatically good...seriously. I do admit a huge urge to rip that thing apart and rackmount it....can you rackmount a phone?

Re: What do you listen to to refuel?

for me it's all about les baxter....quiet village. very nice indeed. a lot of those early exotica records just sound so great to me. raymond scott is also a good listen. anything to get away from 'the rock' for a while.
