Re: Your killer Digi 001 rig
I do have a killer 001 rig. But I first had to decide that I wasn't going to record a lot of instruments at one time, bands etc. Since I genrerally just record myself or my friends, I realized that using 1 or 2 tracks at a time would be sufficient for my purposes. So I got 2 Brent Averill 1272's, pr...

Re: Should I Get Pro Tools or Vegas?
Having worked with Pro Tools for years, I would recommend that you take your money - and go to Vegas. There's hookers there are awesome, but expensive. You're money would be better spent having lots of fun for week or so in Vegas.Should I get Pro Tools or Vegas?

I have an 001 and I use OS9. If money's an issue, an 001 will suit you fine for years to come. I hope you're using a newer model Mac, though.

How ironic is that? How fucking weird... Great group, they were still gigging, believe it or not, and they'd just played some dates in Hollywood.
Love the Left Banke, as well.

Re: Does anyone have a studio out in the country
Make sure you're insulated from external noise. The 'quieter' countryside can be louder in its own ways. When I lived out of town, on the highway, I got more interesting whooshes of cars passing by outside on the road than I really wanted. It can make for some interesting sound effects,,but it's ge...

I have a Rode NTV. I use it for vocals and acoustic guitar. Nothing but praise for this puppy. Course I shoot it through a Neve 1272, so that helps.

Re: Your Monitors - likes & dislikes
I have Mackie HR 624s. I've had them for 2 years. They're powered and about $900 fo the pair. I like them very much, although I've never tried any others. I don't use a sub with them. I find the sound to be very clear, and the fact that I use a Benchmark D/A converter, allows me to hear the clarity....

I actually quit playing in bands and clubs out here cause of the traffic. The playing part was fine, it was getting to the gigs on time that made me a nervous wreck.pacrock wrote:where in l.a. are you? this place is so big and traffic is so nightmareish that it matters..

Re: A Quick way to record when inspiration strikes
Ok...say you've got a cheap-ass audio cassette recorder worth $15 that you keep handy just in case lightning strikes. Suddenly you get zapped and low & behold you've got no blank cassettes handy or the battteries are dead. Of course you could launch your audio application in your computer but this ...

Re: Where do I find a remote control for my Digi001
I got mine at Guitar Center. It's a simple on-off foot switch with a 1/4" jack that goes into the back of the digi 001 box. About $25 bucks if I remember correctly.

The smart people will act efficiently, they'll drop the weight and baggage of a human relationship, and invest heavily in porno.
At some point I look forward to building a love-bot. I will program her to be my musical inspiration. I will have it all.

Re: We want our MTV! RIP
Interesting observation: most of the top pop artists, before the advent of MTV, were fairly homely people. I recall that most of the top records of, say, '79 or '80 were made by some pretty ugly motherfuckers. Nowadays, you don't get a hit record, or any mainstream success, unless you have a "look....
