as of the newest version of Audacity, it can't be done. if you set up 8 tracks and hit "record", you'll get 8 identical tracks, each with a mixture of all 8 input signals. I emailed the developers, at the time they weren't in a hurry to change this. Good to know, thanks dude. *does secret +C handsh...

Recording multiple tracks with Audacity

Can anyone show me how to do this? I'm getting stuck. I'm using a Tascam 1804 interface, Audacity recognises it but won't give me the option to assign channels to tracks.

Really lost - anyone?

I'm working on some new stuff, almost finished the first tune of the bunch. Yesterday i was working on adding some grit to the guitar parts and making the two guitars sound a little different from eachother (same guitar, same amp). Also added an outro, i think i have the structure of it now.

Tots Joe. It's a good site, created from the ashes of the Kronosonic board. Some great folks over there.

What model Mini is it? I've had connection problems with my firewire interface with my 1.66 Intel Mini, i'm also wondering if it's the port on the Mini. It does connect but it's intermitent.

The most revealing thing I do is go into the other room. Crack the door open with a shoe or something and walk around in an adjacent room or hallway. If I?m mixing at home, I walk around upstairs. Its totally amazing what I end up fixing after doing this and it?s almost always for the better. Yeah,...
