i have to say this is some of the worst mixing i have ever heard. i can't listen to it.
i'm hoping that they "leaked" a really bad mix to make people buy the album which i planned on doing but if this is the way its going to sound i don't think i can bring myself to listen to it.

Re: low levels to tape
yeah... cal'd in room with same tape, 15 ips... it was the first session i did with the machine too, first on tape actually.. so i'm thinking it's more of a "i need to get gooder with tape" kind of situation than a setup issue... also though i was wondering if maybe i could just recal the machine wi...

the pre is kind of noisy... it's mostly that there seems to still be a bit of tape noise, plus i want to check out how things sound extremely saturated... i'm really new to tape... it's a little more troublesome on vocals actually... i can never seem to boost vocal levels high enough to get rid of h...

low levels to tape
any hints about getting heavier levels to tape? i used an rca 77dx as an overhead the otherday and the pre's in my trident series 65 just didn't seem to be able to get the mic hot enough without clipping to get the tape machine needle above -3 or -4 with peaks around +1.... is it maybe just not enou...
