Hey Michael, Check out the diagram on page 374. It shows Lennon's guitar mic'd with a U47. Although the text says his amp is mic'd as well, the diagram doesn't specifically show it. There is no guitar cord running to the amp? The graphic is accurate - the description could be better. John's guitar ...

Actually, I believe we should be completely caught up by this Friday. If you order now, there isn't the huge backlog of preorders we had to deal with initially, so it will go out fast.

Thanks guys. It's so great to have it out finally and hear the feedback. And yes, it is a big book - literally 11 pounds! Read it in shifts so you don't injure yourself!

(PS: I don't think we've revealed this anywhere yet, but the handwriting on the "tape box" slipcase is actually Ken Scott's...)

oofa. $100? Really socking it to your fellow Fabs geeks, don't you think? Must be awfully expensive paper or something. The reason for the cost will be much more apparent once people hold it in their hands. Not only is the book HUGE, but the first edition is truly a fine-art book, museum quality pa...

I tend to think of the following analogy: If you were a painter and you admired the work of Rembrandt, it might follow that you would be interested in his painting techniques: what kind of pigments he used, what kinds of brushes, the order in which he laid his glazes, his general approach, etc. Of c...

Re: Recording The Beatles

There's also a link on the site that allows you to add yourself to a list of people to be notified when the book is available. Of course, we'll be making a lot of noise around here when that day comes anyway - it'll be hard to miss...

Re: CB Radio sound on vox

I hit swap meets and garage sales hunting for any little piece of crap with a speaker that I can pass sound through for a good lo-fi sound. I've picked up so many old portable cassette players, dictaphones and answering machines, all of which give that nice tiny but fuzzed out sound if you blast the...
