Re: payback's a bitch.....

They actually did this back in the 90's on Short Vine in Cincinnati which, at the time, was an area near the university where all the "alternative" stores and clubs were. The street was infested with suburban gutter punks who took the bus down to beg for change to buy heroin or garbage pail kids or ...

That halftime show was rad.

What a refreshing halftime show w/ McCartney eh? He was actually singing, and playing, and had a good band w/ big Mexican looking dude who was rockin out. The lights and screens and overall production were good too. See, it is possible to do this type of thing without nipples, backing tracks and Ame...

Re: Pots & Pans for Cooking Question

Yes, it is bad for you when the nonstick coating is damaged and flaking. There's been a lot in the news lately about Teflon (the stuff that is the nonstick element) possibly causing cancer. Although that's par for the course for anything Dupont manufactures, it's just great that it's in our pots and...

Re: good internet radio streams

Damn Wasabi, you beat me to it with the "bam!..." I grew up w/ 97x, last time I was in Cincy it was still on air, that's a shame it's not on air still. Not surprising though, my sister was in Oxford for four years before she ever realized it was even a station...

Re: Fun with Yahoo! Yellow Pages

It would be cool to search old Yellow Pages, say 60's and 70's. I'd say there were exponentially less back then but they were real studios, not the aformentioned mpc and 001, which is pretty much about what my "studio" is...

Re: Go Mackie Tech Support!

It is kind of design flaw, or at least a limitation of the Mackie powered speakers. I've seen mine and others go thermal without proper ventilation. No Fan+not enough ventilation=amp in protection. Not a very savvy answer on Mackie's part evidently, kind of funny actually. Search my post in the thre...

Re: Good names for record stores...

Can't help ya on a name, but I will tell you that my friends and I crunched the numbers on this idea, sans skate and snow gear, when we moved to Cleveland after college, it sounded like a lot of fun, but didn't seem like too much of a money-making prospect given the competition from Best Buy and cha...

Re: PA & OH tape oppers -- venue help needed?

There's a new diy venue in Cleveland called the Tower, kind of the heir to Speak in Tounges (RIP). There is a website that the whole crew who does shows there is on, it's called ExperimentalBehavior.com. Last time I checked, it was down, probably up by now. You're looking for a guy called Steve Drac...

Re: Help my boss spend tons of money on a stereo!

I think what he really wants is a pair of cool looking speakers. I suggested that what he is looking for is something "esoteric" which he picked up on immediately as what he wanted. So, we're probably looking at an intergrated amp and a good CD, SACD or multi-format player. He's definately of the ag...
