I'm guessing vaporware, since the only picture I've ever seen is an artist's rendering. Given the mics its up against in that segment and at that price point, I'm not sure it's going to be all that impressive unless it does something special.

Reputation from a couple years ago for the Blue Ball is that some individual mics are better than others of the same model. I haven't gotten the same impression on the Kick Ball, but I couldn't be sure. If you're stuck on the return policy and just hate it, I'm sure you can sell it at cost or better...

who makes a good trem/pan pedal? dunlop use to make one(might be hard to find?) Shouldn't be too hard anymore earnie ball pan pedal? (this might be the way to go)? Unless they have something I don't know about, that's a very different beast. A manual (well, pedal, but anyway . . .) pan control is a...

got my kick ball. Not gonna work as kick mike for me. Its way too loud! I was overdriving my mic pre just talking into it! Seem to like guitar cabs though. Sounds somewhere between a ATM63 and a 421 or something. I gotta say I like it. For $50 it seems cool. If it wasn't for the fact that these guy...

If you don't want to "hear alot of detail", the choice of mic is going to affect this much more than your choice of preamp. i hear you.. i should've explained that earlier...ribbons and dynamics don't really work for my voice, although it's not the only application where i'll use the pres. i need t...

Figure out the customs consequences of taking a carpet bag full of Shure mics with you and doing trades at recording and broadcast studios in the vicinities you'll be headed to. The foam thing seems to be hitting a lot of people lately. There was a TO forum thread in the last couple weeks on this--maybe "pepper shaker" was part of the thread title? If the RE-20 is built with the same principle as the PL-10 (very likely), the ends of the barrel are threaded and will unscrew....

And the world only needs one method by which to do anything. One guitar, one distortion pedal, one amplifier, one mic, one mic preamp, one compressor, one eq . . . The samples seem to break up a bit differently than any other method I've got handy. The mic seems to be at a fair price for that...
