You can short out a resistor by soldering one leg of a single-pole/single throw switch to one side of the resistor, and soldering the other switch leg to the other side of the resistor. When the switch is on, current will flow thru the switch: the path of least resistance. So that's a short circuit....

I'm swapping the 2-prong power cable out for a 3-prong and hopefully doing this: http://www.unclespot.com/3prongconversion.JPG ,,, to give it a safer design as discussed on this: http://messageboard.tapeop.com/viewtopic.php?t=68798&highlight=airline+amp+cap thread. I'm no stranger to a soldering ir...

Where'd you send your Space Echo to get tuned up? Mine at the very least needs new rubber. Maybe a cleanup, too.

I have a Rotel that does this. It's not a receiver, per se, but a preamp/processor. It does 5:1 with a L-R send to zone 2. It sounds very good but the menu system is a little tricky. Anyway, point I'm getting at is I got this a year or two ago. It's an older model (1068). "Older" basically means mid...

Issue with Tascam US-2000

Hi, I have a Tascam US-2000 interface. It's one of those 16 channel USB deals with built-in pres. I've been having a lot of trouble running this, both with Sonar and Reaper. Lots of sputtering and dropouts and digital distortion. Sometimes it happens right away. Sometimes it takes a while. Once the ...

A tele like that was my first real guitar back in '86. I worked all summer to get it and then got rid of it a few years later because I was a dumb kid. That guitar is pretty much my Rosebud.

I was a teen in the 80s and started playing out in the 90s. So I don't know too much about the wild west days of live sound, other than from photos or anecdotes like these. It's incredible to hear all these stories about live sound innovation, as well as disasters.

I love the George Washington video. The part about not saving the British children is my favorite.

But I have nothing to contribute about fixing your chair, sorry.

So I got a schematic today, which I'll scan a better image when I have access to a scanner, The input is this: http://img843.imageshack.us/i/keithley102b.jpg/ Basically, there's a 22meg resistor on the input which seems like it's very large for a mic pre. the manual says the actual input impedance i...

Help converting Keithley Lab amplifier into mic pre

Hello, I just acquired 2 tube amplifiers. They're by the Keithley company, all tube with a 5 position multiplier switch. Model 102B. I am working on getting schematics for them and will post photos here when I get a chance. The main issue with them is the front panel specs a very high input impedanc...

Cool. Mind as well try it out. Does five fish do a 30v? I'm going to do a fixed gain with switchable input pad. Still confused by that other post I linked to though. Thanks The fivefish supply goes to something very close, like -28 or something. User "EMRR" our resident authority on RCA stuff. He h...

Yeah Scodid is right. I used a fivefish P/S for a couple BA72s and it worked great and was cheap.

You gonna do fixed gain for those 71s or use a stepped pad thing?
