curious what y'all think

My band, The Bye Bye Blackbirds, has an EP coming out soon. We recorded it on a Fostex 16-track tape machine with Bill Swan from Beulah producing (mostly at his home, but also a bit at a project studio here in Oakland.) In the end we bounced to PT for some final overdubs and mixing (Chris Palmatier ...

Re: some of my stray songs (feedback welcome!)

I used the Oktava for the vocals and percussion, but all the guitars are Pod. If you see Wes, tell him i'm availabale for soundtrack work!

some of my stray songs (feedback welcome!)

I've been writing and demo-ing a lot for my new band, but some of the songs that don't fit seem to be taking on a life of their own. I've put a little website together where i'll be putting some of these leftover songs. I record demos on an MD8 but I run everything through an old TOA mixing board fi...

affordable reverb recommendations?

I realize that there are a million different styles, tastes and applications, but i'm curious what y'all think is a good, versatile, affordable reverb unit. I'd use the beautiful reverb in the parking garage downstairs, but people keep parking their cars in it! Rude!

Want to get started, need advice

I'm saving up my money to put together a simple, but solid, home recording computer set-up. I'd like to get a laptop because I have limited space, and I will need to do some on-location recording. It will be a laptop dedicated to recording. I have tried to research different recording programs and c...

board modification?

I posted awhile back about a mixing board I was given that doesn't have individual outs for each channel. I know a local electronics whiz who has installed/repaired/maintained studios--would it be ridiculous to have him create individual outs for each track? I love the sound of the board (and it was...

Mixing Board Question

A friend recently gave me his old TOA RX-216 mixing board. I've never owned anything like it and i'm a bit confused by it. It doesn't appear to have individual "outs" for each track. I was hoping to be able to send each channel to a separate track of my eight track, but i'm not sure this is possible...

Re: WTB: ES335-style Electra guitar

I don't know a thing about Espana--there wasn't even a user review at harmony-central! Anyone know anything? Sad to hear folks have raised the bar on the Electras--every time I try to find a good quality off brand, i'm too late to get in on the deals! Still, nice to hear a recommendation. Thanks for...

WTB: ES335-style Electra guitar

I'm interesting in finding a 335 copy made by Japanese company, Electra. There's one on eBay now, but the guy wants way too much for it (shouldn't be more than $175!)

thanks

East Bay pop band looking for drummer (SF/Oakland Bay Area)

We're two guitarist/singer/songwriters and a bassist/singer looking for a drummer. We're calling on our love of great pop from the 60's (Kinks,Zombies,Byrds), 70's (Big Star,SoftBoys,Rundgren),80's(Go-Betweens,Chills,Game Theory),90's(Mutton Birds,Auteurs,Elliott Smith) and on to create a new band. ...
