Re: Removing laminate flooring
laminate flooring is easier to take out than to put in. you simply leave a bit of space around the edges, get some sort of tool in there and lift. most laminate floors do not require glue, so the pieces come apart quite easily. good luck.

Re: space echo re-201 ?
djumbe- thnks for the reply. the "from pa" input being 100% wet explains why i'm getting the desired effect when returning the space echo to an open channel in my board (minus the noise issue, which isn't the tape as i just put fresh tape on which sounds great thru the other inputs). but if the "ins...

space echo re-201 ?
does anybody know the difference between the various inputs on the re-201. there are two "mic" inputs, an "instrument" input and "from pa" input. i figured it was an impedance thing, but i get very different results from each that don't seem to be the results of impedance issues. i am patched to the...

Re: stereo imaging confusion
thanks. panning hard left and right both while importing the music into pro tools and converting to wav. files seems to do the trick. it still seems slightly different, but i suppose it has more to do with the digitization process.

stereo imaging confusion
I'm attempting to burn a cdr of some mixes I've done on 1/4" tape. My question is how do I set the pans on Pro Tools (free version, if that matters) when I bring the music into the computer? How should the pans be set when I "bounce to disk?" No matter what I try, the stereo imaging seems different ...

have you replaced the tape? i've been told using about 15 feet is ideal. i'm planning to change my tape this weekend. i'll let you know if it helps.

should the tones go to tape a 0 VU? does the level matter? should it be the same for each frequency?

help me find my babies
apologies in advance if this is the wrong forum for this, but i realize there are some fanatical online shoppers out there, so here goes... i recently had two guitars lifted from my studio. one, the first i ever owned (i've had it 16 years) is a '66 gretsch corvette. it's red and black with the bixb...

Re: country music/records
i've been particularly diggin' the late-60s folkers and rockers gone to nashville to do their country thing records of late. the everly brothers' "roots" is fantastic. check out ian and sylvia's "nashville" lp, as well - a very bizarre psych-country workout.

Re: Auralex foam
Despite a number of people recommending against Auralex foam i got a box of it on sale from mf and it really helped the standing wave problems i was having in my room. I don't know about the dimensions or issues with your space, but it worked ok for me.

Re: The Hampton Grease Band
I believe there was a band simply called the Grease Band who were perhaps Cocker associates and the source of this misunderstanding. In fact, an irate friend once threw their record at me and said "you said these guys were unbelievable, but this really blows." It was a record by some band called the...

Re: VON LMO and "crappy" recordings
Future Language is definitely a bizarre record (Long Live Heavy Metal). I actually had the bizarre experience of playing in his backing band in SF about 9 years ago. The guy really does believe he's from outer space. He also claims to have invented eveything from punk rock to microwave ovens. Defini...
