Sounds good to me bud. Plus this is pretty experimental stuff that sounds best lo-fi. If anyone tried to diss your sound you could say, "it's supposed to be shitty"
Vocal effect is rad.

Re: new jack needs help upgrading front-end
I'll be recording a bunch of dirty rock n roll, so I'll look into the Urei 610, or the UA 2108. Thanks for the info.
Any tips on where to buy gear of this sort? I'll certainly look about on ebay, but maybe elsewhere?

Re: new jack needs help upgrading front-end
Thanks for the tips. I definitely want something I won't grow out of - at least for the next few years. signorMars mentioned getting a better board. Would getting a better board be a wiser investment than outboard pre's? Also, I've been through the Best of TapeOp threads, and there's tons of great s...

new jack needs help upgrading front-end
hello all. i, like many other new jacks, have a simple motu 828/cubase sx setup. i have a cheapo behringer board and a very small collection of microphones. i've got a little money to spend (about 2K) and i'd like to take this stuff to the next level. i'm thinking pre-amps. i've spent some time in f...

Re: I suppose I'm looking for feedback...
I recorded everything myself You did all this yourself? You're a regular bad ass. Sounds great. I like "Simple Solution" - nice instrumentation. How did you track all this by yourself? Did you play the drums to just a bass/click? The songs have the feel of a band. I'm surprised it all sounds so coh...

Re: compressor plug-in help
I've run into plug-in latency issues before, but never when I'm running the plug-ins directly on tracks. It usually only happens when I use a send in cubase.
Maybe I'm just a badass... i dunno

Re: What's the best way to improve my PC performance.
I run CubaseSX on a P4 2.0 with 512MB Ram and I run into similar problems. Once I start fooling with too many plug-ins the computer just takes a shit. I get around it by mixing things down in steps. It takes more time, but if you don't have the money to get some billy bad ass computer, just mix thin...

Re: compressor plug-in help
I've found that I like to make duplicates of the more important tracks that need compression - kick, snare, vocals, etc. - and compress one, leave the other as is. then you can adjust in your mixer. i started doing this when i wanted to see what it was like for engineers before plug-ins existed. the...

Re: First Black Metal session.
First off, I'd like to say that I'm definitely with muxlow on this one. As I read through the first page of posts I was getting annoyed. Not because I'm a huge black metal nerd... But because I remember being seventeen and going into the studio with my metal/hardcore band. We really wanted a good re...

Re: Triggered Drums & Drum Hit Replacement
I wanted to thank everyone for the great information. I will certainly be putting a lot of this to the test on an upcoming project.
I'll probably pick up a DM5 since it's pretty affordable and so many of you mentioned it.
Thanks again. -J

Triggered Drums & Drum Hit Replacement
I was blown away when I first learned how common in rock/hard rock/metal it is to add in a snare/kick/both sample to really make the drums sound big. I've been doing some research on how this is done and it seems that most people are using the ProTools plug-in, SoundReplacer. I use CubaseSX and the ...
