yeah, all that stuff varies from kit to kit, room to room, player to...you get my point.
so about the MD421? i've noticed that there is a 2nd version of this mic.
just as good or better to hunt down the original? stupid question?

Re: Large Diaphragm Condensers
i'd either get a BLUE the Kiwi (you can usually find them for around a grand now) or a BLUE Mouse (under a grand). but it might be better to get 2 different LD condensers, like maybe an AT4050 or a tube AT3060 and a Studio Projects C3 or some combination of those. hell, you might be able to get all ...

Re: Stupid question - Can guitar pedal take Line Inputs?
i sometimes use an older RAT pedal with cheap keyboards to get a nice
overly blown fuzz ala intro to the Watery, Domestic EP by Pavement.

Re: What guitar rocks your recording world?
i use my 90's reissue MIJ Jazzmaster thru my vibrochamp mostly. i don't know if it rocks my recording world, but it gets the job done nicely. also, borrowing other people's guitars/amps for recording rules. i sometimes get to play a 60's Gibson 335 thru an equally 60's princeton reverb to great resu...

Best Dynamic Mics
everyone uses them...so list some of your favorites, and maybe what
you find them to be useful for. i'm just sick of my sm57s and want some
hints about other great dynamic mics. thanks!

Re: Grandaddy's new album "sumday"
i totally disagree...i think this album is obviously their best work. i think that they actually have alot of input with how their music sounds, so if it's more produced and compressed then maybe that's what they wanted with this album. i really don't think it sounds supercompressed (like all the Co...

Re: Sumday?
all i can say is just listen to their new album.
if you ever liked them at all, you should give it a chance.
this is their best work and i have all the older stuff.
that's just my opinion though.
now it's on.

Sumday?
anyone else out there listening to a pre-copy of the new Grandaddy album?
talk about great sounding, creative recording & good use of crappy/great synths
and drum machines. plus incredibly interesting songwritting and use of language.
the best yet! i'm stoked. gotta go record now.

George L's?
i know this isnt exactly recording specific, but i need some help! please. i recently bought a 'pedalboard' set of George L's (5 feet cable, 10 right angle connectors) at the advice of several friends and i can't get them to work at all. i cut the cable into 1 foot sections, connected the ends, plug...
