Re: Siren Fest... worst sound ever.
i think about 90% of shows in small venues are probably too loud... even for (maybe especially for) bands with a loud aesthetic... most of the time there are only about 50 people in the croud... it would be nice if most of the sound came from the band's amps themselves. The loud thing is kind of cli...

There is an article here on drum mixing that helped us out. Just run through the exercise and see if it helps.

Thanks, I'll look into RME.sserendipity wrote:
What's your budget.
I really like me RME A/D D/A converter.
Probably in the same range as the Behringer ($200). 2 more channels are all we really need.

A good way to get a few more channels into a MOTU via ADAT?
We are recording with a MOTU 896 and would like a few more channels. I know we can use the Behringer ADA8000, but we have had some bad experiences with Behringer stuff... so I'd rather buy something better... even If it has fewer channels and no mic pres. We would just need to be able to daisy chain...

Re: drum sub-group compression
or maybe send out a sine tone to the comp, and flip the phase on the comp return. if the comp return is exactly in phase, you should hear nothing - the 2 signals should cancel each other out. does that make sense? i'm gonna try it...ayan there is the small chance that the delay added by the process...

Re: drum sub-group compression
for out of phase signals... if you use something like cuebase you can zoom all the way in to the wave of each drum hit and line up the peaks of your two (or however many) channels. ...analog... i guess you'd have to use an ocilloscope to measure the delay between the peaks and then somehow put the c...

Re: Trail of Dead Drum Sound, any tips?
thanks for the tips. we've downloaded the compressor program, and it looks like it's going to work real well with cubase... although i couldn't bring myself to dish out close to $400 for just one mic when it would have been the first one i've ever bought... i picked up a superlux cm-h8a cardioid mic...

can any one suggest a mic and a compressor that could do this and that, together, would cost... say under $400.

what about albini's Shellac guitar sound...I realize it's more complicated, but it sounds like there is some clipping going on there...quote] he uses a distortion pedal called the harmonic percolator and a travis bean guitar (alumunium neck). check out guitargeek.com to see what others use. i think...

Re: 112 tube amp?
i have an 80W traynor with 2 12's and i love it. for the price, sound, warranty and classic look you can't beat it. i believe they make 15W and 40W 1 12's. http://www.yorkville.com/ i think it is the 40W that has won several awards.
